Preliminary findings indicate it wasn’t surface-to-air missile that took down Wagner leader’s plane. The plane carrying Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the Wagner paramilitary group, crashed as the result of an assassination plot but wasn’t shot down by a surface-to-air missile, U.S. officials said. The preliminary U.S. government assessments, which officials stressed are incomplete, suggest that a bomb exploded on the aircraft or that some other form of sabotage caused the crash northwest of Moscow.

Investigators have arrested a St. Louis- area truck driving school employee in the murder of an Illinois student who was found slain after posting his car for sale on Craigslist, reports CBS St. Louis. The body of 19-year-old Taylor Clark was found at the M.T.C. Truck Center in Hazelwood, Mo. The four men arrested after an armed pawn shop robbery in Auburndale and slaying of two Haines City women were denied bail by a judge Saturday morning. Michael Gordon, Devonere McCune, Jovan Lamb and Terrell Williams will remain in the Polk County Jail and are due back in the court Feb. 17. They made their first appearance in a Bartow courtroom. Gordon, 34, of Lakeland, faces two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Patricia Moran, 72, and her daughter, Deborah Royal, 51, at their home. On Nov. 6, 2013, Cannon was elected mayor, jubilantly thanking voters for helping him realize a “life goal.” He was arrested in March, charged with accepting more than $50,000 in bribes from undercover FBI agents. He pleaded guilty in June to a corruption charge and was sentenced by Whitney on Oct. 14. At the time, Cannon’s attorneys asked that their client be admitted to a prison alcohol-treatment program.
