Sergeant Melissa Ruch of the West Penn Township Police Department is recovering from her injuries this morning after she was reportedly attacked by a motorist after she stopped to assist a disabled vehicle. Apparently, this thug first slashed Sergeant Ruch’s shirt and then threw her over a guardrail during the attack: Sergeant Ruch was then airlifted to the hospital: A PennSTAR helicopter landed on a field at the intersection of SR309 and SR895 to transport officer Ruch to Lehigh Valley at Cedar Crest.
