Officials said 66-year-old Margaret Louise McCoy was originally charged with aggravated assault after her ex-husband, Michael Clayton McCoy, died Saturday morning. District Attorney General Mike Bottoms said the charges against Margaret McCoy were upgraded Monday to second-degree murder. That decision was made after the victim's death was ruled a homicide by the Tennessee Department of Forensic Sciences.
