BALTIMORE - A woman and a boy were fatally shot Thursday morning in southwest Baltimore. City police said officers were called around 8:19 a.m. to the 100 block of Upmanor Road, where a 31-year-old woman and a young boy believed to be around 8 years old had been shot in the head. Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to call police at 410-396-2100.

A video has recently surfaced of Marilyn Mosby, the district attorney responsible for charging six Baltimore police officers in the death of Freddie Gray, making an appearance on the popular arbitration court series “Judge Judy” more than a decade ago. The video dates back to the early 2000s, in the show’s fifth season, when Mosby was in college and still going by her maiden name, Marilyn James. Mosby was on the program with a rather bizarre case: She was suing business owner Ryan Johnson for damages to the apartment she lived in while at college.

BALTIMORE - The president of Baltimore City's police union says Police Commissioner Anthony Batts felt it was necessary to apologize for some of the things that happened, and didn't happen, on the day of the riots one month ago. Batts addressed a crowded meeting of the FOP Lodge #3 membership Tuesday night, but he left without answering any questions from police or the media. FOP President Gene Ryan says he wrote down some of what the commissioner said. “Some of his quotes were 'I let you guys down. I apologize to every man and woman in this room because I...

Shannon Cosgrove, deputy director of the office, will be the fourth member of Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake's criminal justice team to leave in recent weeks. Three others have left the office as Baltimore endures a rash of homicides and other violence following last month's rioting and unrest. Angela Johnese, director of the criminal justice office, and Heather Brantner, the mayor's Sexual Assault Response Team coordinator, left their city posts Friday. Officials declined to say under what terms they departed. LeVar Michael, who led the city's anti-violence program Operation Ceasefire, left his position voluntarily a few weeks ago.

Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke (D) declared “Welcome to President Obama’s 21st century transformation of the institution of policing, and it’s been a disaster, unnecessary black carnage is what we saw this weekend” in response to the violence in Baltimore and Chicago, the killing of two police officers, and reports of a police slowdown in Baltimore on Tuesday’s “Hannity” on the Fox News Channel.

The violence in Baltimore worsened over Memorial Day weekend, with 32 reported shootings and nine fatalities. There have now been 35 murders this month in Baltimore, the highest monthly total since 1999. A current Baltimore police officer who chose to hide his identity reacted on “Hannity” tonight, saying that the surge in violence is a “direct result” from the six officers who were indicted by a grand jury in the death of Freddie Gray. “After the protests, it seems like the citizens would appreciate a lack of police presence, and that’s exactly what they’re getting,” the officer said. “No proactive...

Apparently only SOME black lives matter Khai'Lee Sampson is a 7-year-old child that suffers from severe cerebral palsy caused by an asthma attack when he was 18 months old that left him without oxygen for 45 minutes. A few weeks ago, his house was burned down during the Baltimore riots, destroying all of his medical equipment that keeps him alive. “They took everything from my child,” the boy's mother, Laporsha Lawson, told The Washington Post. The Post listed the equipment: The wheelchair customized for Khai’Lee’s small body, the back brace that helps him sit upright, the machine that pumps oxygen...

This lunacy is mainstream thought at the Department of Justice. Vanita Gupta, head of the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division, has told a lawyers group in Colorado that slavery and Jim Crow helped fuel the Ferguson and Baltimore riots. The last few days have seen a number of fanciful stories with the Obama administration seemingly questioning the authority of local police. I’ve long maintained that the administration is nakedly seeking to federalize policing standards — but get rid of local police? No way, that sounds like something broadcast from a shortwave station in Austin, Texas. But then up steps...

When guests at a North Korea Freedom Week dinner in Northern Virginia learned the Korean-American pastor at our table led a Maryland church, they immediately asked about the situation in Baltimore. It was May 1, and National Guard troops had been deployed to the city three days earlier to help quell the unrest sparked by the death of a man in police custody. The pastor let out a deep sigh before responding. A few members of his congregation had lost everything. After working diligently for years building small businesses in a new country, they watched their efforts literally go up...
  • Maryland has been illegally double-taxing residents who pay income tax to other states

    Washington Post ^ | May 18, 2015 | By Bill Turque
A divided Supreme Court said Monday that Maryland’s income tax law is unconstitutional because it does not provide a full tax credit to residents for income tax paid outside the state, a ruling likely to cost Maryland counties and localities across the country millions of dollars in revenue. The court voted 5-4 to affirm a 2013 Maryland Court of Appeals decision that the state’s practice of withholding a credit on the county segment of the state income tax violated the Commerce Clause because it might discourage individuals from doing business across state lines. In most states, income from elsewhere is...

RUSH: A new Gallup poll out. Headline: "Americans Continue to Shift Left on Key Moral Issues." Now, before you go off getting depressed about this, let me tell you what the reason for this is, after we give you the details. "Americans are more likely now than in the early 2000s to find a variety of behaviors morally acceptable, including gay and lesbian relations, having a baby outside of marriage and sex between an unmarried man and woman. Moral acceptability of many of these issues is now at a record-high level." It's a subtle message to the Republican Party, and...

This week Vermont Senator and self-avowed socialist Bernie Sanders sat down with CNBC’s John Harwood for an interview on the issues facing all the 2016 candidates. Sanders is technically running for President, and is at least keeping up the public appearance of being serious. (He told Harwood, I think we got a shot to win this thing.) With that in mind, I suppose it’s worth taking a moment to examine some of his answers and remind everyone exactly what’s lurking under the covers of the deep left wing of the Democrats. While it may seem like a bit of...

Hillary Clinton is heading to the Sunshine State this week to spend time with one of Florida’s most influential Democratic donors, trial lawyer John Morgan. Morgan is not just praising Clinton’s candidacy, but actively bashing her potential Republican rivals. In an interview with The Daily Beast, Morgan took shots at Wisconsin Governor and prospective 2016 candidate, Scott Walker: “Walker would be the first president with a GED.”The Democratic donor attempted to insult Walker for not obtaining a college degree, which he opted out of in order to get started with his career. Morgan continued, calling Walker cruel names in an...

Many Americans are taking on more liberal views but Ted Cruz is sticking with his social conservatism. But will his grassroots bible belt base be enough to get him elected in 2016? The 2016 presidential primary season is shaping up to be very interesting. And although some Democrats such as Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders have already announced their candidacies, all eyes have undoubtedly been on the GOP field, which seems to be growing every day. The GOP has been struggling in recent years, with Americans becoming increasingly more liberal, especially when it comes to social issues like the war...

At a craft brewery in Hampton, New Hampshire, Hillary Clinton called out her Republican presidential opponents for sacrificing American jobs to appease the billionaire Koch Brothers and talk radio Tea Party extremists. In particular, Clinton criticized Republicans who want to dismantle the Export-Import Bank, which supplies loans and provides insurance to facilitate the sale of U.S. exports to international buyers. A number of Republican presidential contenders have gone on record in favor of killing the Export-Import Bank, a move that could potentially eliminate a significant number of American jobs in the process. Florida Senator Marco Rubio and Texas Senator Ted...
  • How Politicians From Hillary Clinton To David Cameron Reacted To Ireland's Same-Sex Marriage Vote

Ireland became Saturday the first country in the world to legalize same-sex marriages by popular vote. Within the U.S., Maine, Maryland and Washington in 2012 were the first states to legalize such unions through popular votes. Meanwhile, 37 states and the District of Columbia recognize same-sex marriages, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. A measure to legalize such unions via popular votes could be added to the ballots in the 13 other states during the 2016 general elections, when it conceivably could have the support of at least one presidential candidate, as IrelandÂ’s action motivated one White House...

Bill Clinton won the presidency in 1992 by running as a different kind of Democrat from previous nominees. Hillary Clinton, Anne Gearan of The Washington Post reports, is hoping to win the presidency in 2016 by running as the same kind of Democrat as the current incumbent. There's a certain logic in that. President Obama did win twice, while the five pre-Clinton Democratic nominees lost five of the six previous elections. But maybe it's too logical. There's also magic to presidential elections, something no arithmetic formula can capture. It's not clear that a 69-year-old Hillary Clinton in 2016 can inspire...

“Clinton Cash” author Peter Schweizer said that he is ” finding some interesting, compelling things” in his investigation of Jeb Bush on Tuesday’s “Hugh Hewitt Show.” Schweizer reported, “We’re about four months into the research project, obviously not as global in scope as the Clintons, but you know, as governor of the state of Florida, you have a lot of things that you can do. So we’re following the money. We’re looking at land deals. We’re looking at an airport deal. We are looking at some of the educational reforms that were instituted, and some of the big corporate winners...

American voters must have been dropped on their heads, suffered a hetmatoma and need retro-bottom-bottle glasses, if they would vote for Hill just because of what's NOT in her panties, without considering what will happen when we run out of the Presidential Depends®.If Martin O'Malley was such a good find for Bubba—the Willie Mayes of Politics, he knows the winning stats in every last congressional district—why shouldn't he end up on the inside peeping out rather than outside peeping in, of LBJ's legendary tent? That's what would happen if they got George Soros out of the Kingmaking Biz and had an...
