SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – A Tennessee Highway Patrol spokesperson confirmed Friday morning that troopers were part of a multiple vehicle escort Friday carrying the bodies of Marines killed in Thursday’s shooting in Chattanooga. As neighbors and friends tried to understand why a lone gunman launched two brazen attacks on military sites that left four Marines dead, investigators searched for terrorist ties but so far had found none, authorities said. The remains of 36 U.S. Marine heroes of a bloody World War II battle were found on an isolated island in the Pacific more than 70 years after they died, various news outlets report.
