A 54-year-old Saudi man was arrested in a first-class lounge at JFK airport outside New York City Friday. Mohamed Hefni was apprehended after Transportation Security Administration agents spotted a stun gun and four other weapons in Hefni’s checked bag for a flight to Riyadh. After TSA agents first noticed the gun’s outline during a routine screening, they opened Hefni’s package. Inside they discovered a fully operable battery-powered electric stun gun, three electric stun batons, an electric stun pen, and a large can of pepper spray, authorities told the New York Post. A white supremacist who was sentenced to death for the murder of a black man in an horrific killing that echoed the atrocities of the lynching era is to be executed today. Lawrence Russell Brewer, 44, is scheduled to be put to death by lethal injection at 6pm for his part in the 1998 killing of James Byrd, Jr in East Texas. Brewer was one of three men convicted of killing Byrd after they offered him a lift along a remote country road.

A video, which shows an African-American attacking an old man on a local bus, has caused adverse reaction from Korean netizens. A Nevada man has filed a lawsuit against the state’s Department of Motor Vehicles alleging his rights were violated when he says the state denied his requests for personalized license plates with conservative political themes. James Linlor, a Douglas County resident, filed the complaint July 15 in U.S. District Court in Nevada. A state official said the plate eventually was issued late last year. A Delray Beach man was arrested Wednesday after police say they found him aimlessly firing a gun in front of his home. Officers responded at about 6:30 p.m. to Brian Garrahan's residence in the 900 block of Northwest Second Street, a neighborhood of single-family homes north of Atlantic Avenue and east of Pompey Park. WASHINGTON (AP) -- Two House members introduced a bill Thursday that would remove marijuana from the list of federal controlled substances and cede to the states enforcement of laws governing pot. The legislation would eliminate marijuana-specific penalties under federal law, but would maintain a ban on transporting marijuana across state lines. It would allow individuals to grow and sell marijuana in states that make it legal.
