WASHINGTON, July 31 (UPI) -- U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney Tuesday admitted he was wrong when he declared the Iraq insurgency virtually over in 2005. In an interview with CNN's Larry King, Cheney said he thought at the time the capture of Saddam Hussein, elections and other milestones would be enough to undermine the insurgency. "That clearly didn't happen," Cheney admitted. "I think the insurgency turned out to be more robust." Cheney predicted, however, Iraq will be in a much better position by the time he and U.S. President George Bush leave office Jan. 20, 2009. The vice president said...

From CNN: Powerful, controversial -- and backer of a war most Americans now oppose. Vice President Dick Cheney answers the tough questions. Watch tonight, 9 ET.

"CNN sources say the network is starting to search for gentle ways to tell talk-show host Larry King that his long run may be ending," the June issue of Washingtonian says. "Producers say King's performance on the show has grown increasingly befuddled. One example: An interview with Chris Lawford, son of JFK sister Patricia Kennedy Lawford and actor Peter Lawford, where King acknowledged that for a moment he thought he was interviewing Peter Lawford, who died in 1984. King noted that his guest had married into the Kennedys. 'I didn't marry into the family. My mother is a Kennedy,' Chris...

Dear Friend, Many of you have called, written or e-mailed regarding my recent appearance on Larry King Live. I appreciate your comments and value your words of correction and encouragement. It was never my desire or intention to leave any doubt as to what I believe and Whom I serve. I believe with all my heart that it is only through Christ that we have hope in eternal life. I regret and sincerely apologize that I was unclear on the very thing in which I have dedicated my life.

KING: Touch another base on guy marriage. If gays -- we have a gay say on this show, they want to enter the world of your world. They support family. They don't want to jump from one partner to another, they want marriage. Why deny it to them? They want what you have. What's wrong with it? LAURIE: Because I don't think it's God's natural order that he created, Larry. The Bible says that God created men and women in his image. And not good is the aloneness of men, and he brought the woman to be the companion to...

KING: "Wouldn't it be ironic, Michael, if it were pulled and suddenly something happened and they found something that cures or aids people in this condition, and they can live at least a partial life again? Wouldn't you feel terrible? " SCHIAVO: "There's nothing out there that's going to do that, Larry. Let's be realistic, Larry. You can't regrow a brain."

On CNN, Larry King "Alive", John and Teresa Heinz-Kerry, and Larry said, "What do you think, Teresa, would be the effect of another terror attack on the United States politically?" HEINZ-KERRY: I don't know. I think most Americans subconsciously believe something is going to happen. It's a matter of when. And it's a matter of how. KING: Strange way to live, though. HEINZ-KERRY: Yeah. But you know, Europeans have lived that way and other people around the world have lived that way. Americans have been very safe, at least as a nation. RUSH: All right, you want me to translate...

Larry King is going to rerun on Sunday, June 13, his 1990 interview with Ronald Reagan. Tonight he had his February 6, 2001 interview with Nancy on, plus the tour of the library. I am still crying and sniffling. They showed her singing to him at the White House -- a Gershwin tune. Just amazing. His show is repeated here in PDT at 9 p.m.

Seven FOX Shows Out-Rate Larry 'King of Talk' Exclusive: I bet the folks at FOX are pleased about Tuesday's cable news ratings. Larry King -- typically one of the top primetime shows, and CNN's only show that ever creeps above a .8 or so -- was beaten by seven FOX shows. Karen Hughes was his guest, and he still couldn't score more than a 1.1 (948,000 households / 1,132,000 viewers). Compare that to O'Reilly (2.0), H&C (1.6), Shep (1.5), Brit (1.3), Greta (1.3), Gibson (1.2), and FOX & Friends (1.2). Daytime shows like F&F and the Big Story have fewer...

<p>JENNINGS: Yes. I've become fascinated by St. Paul, because -- not everybody likes the movie "The Last Temptation of Christ." But there is that great scene at the end of the movie where Jesus turns out to be dream, and Jesus encounters Paul preaching in a marketplace. And Jesus says: "No that's not the way the story goes at all." In fact, you know, I didn't do this. I wasn't -- I wasn't crucified. And Paul says: "Excuse me. You stick to your story, I'm sticking to mine."</p>
