Day 1: Sperm joins with ovum, to form one cell smaller than a grain of salt. The new life has inherited 23 chromosomes from each parent, 46 in all. This one cell contains the complex genetic blueprint for every detail of human development – the child’s sex, hair and eye color, height, skin toneDays 3 – 4: The fertilized egg travels down the fallopian tube into the uterus, where the lining has been prepared for implantationDays 5 – 9: During this time, the fertilized egg implants itself in the rich lining of the uterus and begins to draw nourishment.Days 10...

We have different vocations with respect to the jobs and tasks God gives us in this life. But we all share in the vocation of death. Every one of us is called to die. That vocation is as much a calling from God as is a “call†to the ministry of Christ. Sometimes the call comes suddenly and without warning. Sometimes it comes with advance notification. But it comes to all of us. And it comes from God.I am aware that there are teachers who tell us that God has nothing to do with death. Death is seen strictly as...

Mr. Dawkins, I'd let you meet my son if you promised to open your mind, your eyes, and your heart to a unique kind of absolute beauty. But, in my request for you to be tolerant, I’d have to warn Trig he must be tolerant, too, because he may superficially look at you as kind of awkward. I'll make sure he's polite, though! Love, Sarah Palin & family

“Every generation laughs at the old fashions, but follows religiously the new.” ― Thoreau So why not just laugh now? – G “If we do not feel grateful for what we already have, what makes us think we’d be happy with more?” — Unknown Recently I posted a picture of myself in my kitchen, and I immediately started receiving generous messages from people wanting to help me “update” it. Along with their messages came pictures of how my kitchen could look, if I’d just put some effort and money into it. I’ve always loved my kitchen, but after seeing those...

NASA's Far Out Search for Life by Brian Thomas, M.S. * With lofty words about humanity’s future, NASA promoters discussed the hope of discovering life on other planets at a recent meeting in NASA headquarters in Washington.1 Despite billions of dollars spent on the decades-long search and the fact that not one shred of distant life evidence has been found, NASA continues to suggest that life might really be out there and that its discovery is within reach. Does scientific evidence really justify this expensive search for distant life? If not, what’s the driving force behind this program? The hope...

It's highly unlikely we're alone in the universe, NASA experts are saying, and we may be close to finding alien life. In fact, it may happen in the next two decades. NASA held a panel discussion at the agency's Washington headquarters on Monday, where space experts talked about the search for Earth-like planets that host life. Based on recent advancements in space telescope technology, scientists estimated that in the coming decades we'll confirm suspicions that we're not alone. "I think in the next 20 years we will find out we are not alone in the universe," NASA astronomer Kevin Hand...

The Supreme Court decision in the monumental Hobby Lobby case against the abortion mandate in Obamacare is expected either this week or next. The Obama administration is attempting to make Hobby Lobby and thousands of pro-life businesses and organizations comply with the HHS mandate that compels religious companies to pay for birth control and abortion-causing drugs for their employees. However, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to take up Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc., a landmark case addressing the Constitutionally guaranteed rights of business owners to operate their family companies without violating their deeply held religious convictions. Kristina Arriaga, Executive...

After reading Jon Gabriel’s recent piece regarding funerals, it occurred to me that ever since I learned about mortality (at about age four), I’ve wanted absolutely nothing to do with it. I’ve kept in shape and have always enjoyed lots of butter (I knew it was good for me before Time announced it!). But I still know that, in the end, death is a place where we are all equal. Science and technology will eventually find a way for people to live a very long time, if not “forever.” The first to benefit will be the very wealthy, but the...

My friends, our little lives (born - die) are but a penny, a one cent coin, easily spent and giving very little satisfaction in doing so. We – as frail human beings - are here on this planet for just a brief moment and then we are gone (Job 14:1-2, Eccl. 1:1-3, Isa. 40:6,1 Peter 1:24). Indeed, all we are is dust in the wind. To put “all of our eggs” into the temporal and doomed basket of this life (existence) is the height of insanity, delusional folly, rebellion and unbelief. ETERNITY is our future and we must all be...

The University of Texas slogan is "What starts here changes the world." I have to admit—I kinda like it. "What starts here changes the world." Tonight there are almost 8,000 students graduating from UT. That great paragon of analytical rigor, Ask.Com, says that the average American will meet 10,000 people in their lifetime. That's a lot of folks. But if every one of you changed the lives of just 10 people, and each one of those folks changed the lives of another 10 people—just 10—then in five generations, 125 years, the class of 2014 will have changed the lives of...

National Right to Life, like National Rifle Association, has gone full Washington establishment. NRL has endorsed Lindsey Graham - and they endorsed Thom Tillis in NC for their primary. Clearly there are better candidates for the cause they pretend to care about….but they have their Washington HQ's and they have been corrupted. Thoughts?

Billionaire investor Warren Buffett is being called "the true face of abortion." The Media Research Center's Culture and Media Institute discovered that Buffett gave roughly $1.2 billion to abortion groups around the world between 2001 and 2012. That's potentially enough money to abort the entire population of Chicago -- or more than two-and-a-half million lives. Among the groups Buffett helped fund are Planned Parenthood, NARAL and the Population Council. The biggest portion, almost $300 million, went to Planned Parenthood. The major media outlets often report on Buffett's "philanthropy," but they've ignored his billion dollar abortion funding. "The liberal media love...

WASHINGTON -- The Christian organization Priests for Life told a federal court Thursday that the HHS mandate requiring it to provide employees free contraception -- some of which induces abortion -- would force the group to violate the very reason for its existence. Many religious organizations back Priests for Life in this case because they, too, could be forced to support a mandate that violates their faith. "When a group like Priests for Life is being attacked, I think that says something," Alison Howard, with Concerned Women for America, said. "The pendulum's swung so far that the federal government could...

Claire Culwell knows what it’s like to be a survivor. At the age of 13, her mother learned she was pregnant and decided to have an abortion, though she didn’t know she was pregnant with twins. After she had an abortion of Claire’s brother, she returned to the abortion clinic after realizing she still had a growing and developing baby inside of her. Told she was too late to have a second abortion, she gave birth to Claire, who struggled on life support as she dealt with a myriad of medical issues following her birth. Despite the obstacles she has...

This is only true if you're a pigheaded narcissist who thinks nothing of consequence existed before you were born.Life comes with TONS of instructions if you're willing to recognize them.History books (use with caution, liberals write them)Your community (church, etc.)The Bible (or whatever text your religion uses)Your parents/family.If you have none of these things (really?) then you can rely on basic skills of observation to avoid the mistakes others around you make.

The Alabama Supreme Court has ruled that the word "child" includes both the born and unborn. The decision comes in the case of a woman who was convicted for using cocaine during her pregnancy. Her baby tested positive for the drug at his birth. Under Alabama law that is considered "chemical endangerment of a child." The court ruled the state has a legitimate interest in protecting the lives of children from the earliest stages of their development. "God, not governments and legislatures, gives persons these inherent natural rights," Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore and Justice Tom Parker wrote in their...

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee warned if the Republican Party ignores social issues in the upcoming national elections, then evangelical voters will simply stay home. The evangelical vote in America has been a key ingredient in deciding who becomes the Republican nominee for president. Polling bears that out. Yet the social issues near and dear to the hearts of evangelicals are under attack within Republican circles. A few years ago, former Gov. Mitch Daniels, R-Ind., wanted to declare a truce on the hot button social issues. "All I was saying was we are going to need to unify all kinds...
