Eight people were arrested at a protest that disrupted a University of Michigan Board of Regents meeting Thursday. Protesters — arguing that the school should admit more minorities — rushed the tables, causing a disturbance similar to one that took place last November. “Several people from the audience swarmed the tables,” said Campus Public Safety spokeswoman Diane Brown. “The police officers were able to control them in the middle of the room.” At least four tables went flying, along with multiple chairs, the Detroit Free Press reported; and several police officers tackled protesters, who fought back, shoving and kicking. The University of Michigan isn't the only area university whose showing of the film "American Sniper" on Friday caused controversy. Four protesters were temporarily detained after disrupting an 8 p.m. showing of the film April 10 on the Eastern Michigan University campus, according to university officials. EMU spokesman Geoff Larcom said during the first of two planned showings at university's Student Center, protesters got on stage and disrupted the movie. Roger L. Simon recently opined that Liberalism is Dead. He referred to modern liberalism rather than to classical liberalism. However, it and its proponents remain forces about which to be concerned.
