Eight people were arrested at a protest that disrupted a University of Michigan Board of Regents meeting Thursday. Protesters — arguing that the school should admit more minorities — rushed the tables, causing a disturbance similar to one that took place last November. “Several people from the audience swarmed the tables,” said Campus Public Safety spokeswoman Diane Brown. “The police officers were able to control them in the middle of the room.” At least four tables went flying, along with multiple chairs, the Detroit Free Press reported; and several police officers tackled protesters, who fought back, shoving and kicking. The University of Michigan isn't the only area university whose showing of the film "American Sniper" on Friday caused controversy. Four protesters were temporarily detained after disrupting an 8 p.m. showing of the film April 10 on the Eastern Michigan University campus, according to university officials. EMU spokesman Geoff Larcom said during the first of two planned showings at university's Student Center, protesters got on stage and disrupted the movie. The EMU Police Department received complaints for subjects causing a disturbance and refusing to leave at about 8:10 p.m. at the Student Center, according to their police log. About 40...

This is another “guest post” by The Very Honorable Ima Librul, Senator from the State of Confusion Utopia. He was the first person of consequence to announce changes to the Bill of Rights enacted by President Obama and we are honored to have a post of this caliber by a quintessential Librul such as the Senator. He is a charter member of President Obama’s Go For It Team, a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and Chairman of the Meretricious Relations Subcommittee. He is also justly proud of his expertise in the care and breeding of unicorns, for which his...
  • Trading Freedom for Security is often dangerous.

Freedom to do as we please has to yield to security and the freedom of others. How much freedom should we trade for security? How much do we still have? Another question is, do we still have choices? Our earnings, property and other assets are increasingly viewed by libruls as belonging to the Government. The bases asserted for their notions include a perceived need for an ever higher, more comfortable and more spacious "floor" for those who prefer (but do not need) to be cared for by a benign Government (i.e., tax payers). There, they can snooze, booze, use illegal...
  • What's Wrong with the Tea Party?

Let's have a (tea) party! Is this the establishment view of conservatives? The main problems are Republican leadership views as reflected in their actions and statements, media portrayals coupled with dejection sometimes leading to lethargy following last year's presidential election debacle and a sense of lost direction. And, of course, there is no conservative (small c) party. Instead, we are factions generally sprinkled around in a "mainstream" party that rejects our substantive input (money is welcome, ideas and candidates are not). Yesterday, the New York Times reported that the “biggest donors in the Republican Party” have joined forces with Karl...
  • A Librul Tries to Grow Pineapples.

This is a guest post by Senator Ima Librul (D., Utopia) on the fine art of growing pineapples. I am a Librul and justly proud of the great good we are doing for the entire World. This is my creed: it is irresponsible to be concerned about the future when our own leaders and our other experts tell us that only good things will happen if we do exactly as they say. The brightest and best, we are never wrong! Don't think. Don't question. Just follow our Dear Leader. My small garden had thirty pineapple plants. Twenty of them had...
  • Liberalism May be Dead but Librulism is Not

Roger L. Simon recently opined that Liberalism is Dead. He referred to modern liberalism rather than to classical liberalism. However, it and its proponents remain forces about which to be concerned. Unfortunately, modern liberalism a.k.a. Librulism may even now be more alive than classical liberalism. Libruls do and say strange things which liberals generally do not. Libruls are fond of the word “racist” and conflate it with opposition to Librul positions. In Librulspeak, it is “racist” not to consider race in hiring and promoting employees and for other purposes; some but not all consideration of race is called “affirmative action”...
  • Newsweek Editor Calls Obama "Sort Of God" - Literally (Evan Thomas: "He's sort of God."

[Evan Thomas:] "...he [Obama] has a very different job from Reagan was all about America and you [Chris Matthews] talked about it. Obama is 'we are above all that now.' We're not just parochial. We stand for something. I mean in a way, Obama's standing above the country, above the world, he's sort of God."
