The 10th annual National Young Feminist Leadership Conference, which was held in Washington D.C. last weekend, was billed as being “inclusive†and “representing various perspectives and experiences.â€Not so much. When Campus Reform‘s Katherine Timpf attempted to ask young women their views on feminism, not only was she told “you’re not wanted here,†an announcement was made advising attendees not to talk to Campus Reform because it’s “conservative.â€The website of Feminist Campus, which bills itself as the “world’s largest pro-choice student network,†promoted the conference this way: “The goal of this conference is to encourage and prepare young women to become...

Last Sunday, The New York Times published a front-page article about the heartfelt need of California farmers for more illegal aliens. The first tip-off that heinous public policy ideas were coming was that the Times introduced farmer Chuck Herrin, owner of a farm-labor contracting company, as a "lifelong Republican." That's Times-speak for "liberal." Herrin admitted that he employs a lot of illegal aliens and bitterly complained that they lived in fear of "Border Patrol and deportations." (But, apparently, he doesn't live in fear of admitting he's violating our immigration laws.) Sorry that running a country inconveniences you, Chuck. He said...

[Madison, Wisc...] The city of Madison hosted the 15th annual national White Privilege Conference last week at the Monona Terrace to discuss issues of white supremacy, social justice, education and the Tea Party. The MacIver Institute attended multiple breakout sessions and will be releasing our highlights over the next couple days. Our first account comes from the breakout session titled Stories from the front lines of education: Confessions of a white, high school English teacher. The session was facilitated by Kim Radersma, a former high school English teacher in California and Colorado. Radersma is currently working toward her Ph. D....

On Tuesday morning, the Media Research Center unveiled its latest arm, MRC Latino, with a symposium in Washington, DC on imbalance and unfairness in Hispanic media, beginning with Univision and Telemundo, introduced with remarks by Sen. Rand Paul. It's time for conservatives to participate more fully in Hispanic media, and for those outlets to present both sides of the nation's most important debates. MRC Latino director Ken Oliver-Méndez released the findings of a new report called “Hispanic Media in the Balance†(written with MRC research director Rich Noyes) that assesses how much national Spanish-language newscasts on American TV tilt to...

The concept that the whims of public opinion, the fads of the moment, or the opinions of an ideological opponent should fundamentally alter what a particular political party stands for has always seemed rather odd to me. It is an argument I see trotted out in articles from Left leaning sites on a regular basis. The argument is always, without fail, that the Republican Party needs to become more like the Democratic Party. Yet the reverse is never suggested for consideration. Great "concern" is showed time and time again by often very radical and liberal writers, as well as general...

Republicans say the “liberal media” has two world powerhouses all wrong: Barack Obama — and the pope. Democrats believe Pope Francis is their guy, arguing he’s softened the Catholic Church stance on gay rights and abortion and taken GOP economic theories to task. When he meets with Obama in Rome on Thursday, they’re hoping it’ll seal the deal. But many big-name conservative Catholics say Francis is no liberal, only painted as one by a biased media that wants a liberal Holy See alliance — even though it doesn’t exist. “What I’ve learned to do is ignore what the newspapers write...

I made a stupid gaffe on the radio last week. While hosting a national radio show, I said that, in general, the liberal professors who have turned higher education into the toxic stew that produced porn star “Belle Knox†needed to be “taken out and shot.†This was a figure of speech; I certainly did not mean it literally. It is a figure of speech, I suspect, that everyone reading this has used, and everyone who clamored for my ruination has used also. The reaction was swift, massive, and unforgiving – first playing itself out on Twitter but then...

If tracking and describing internet wildlife like something out of National Geographic then liberals would probably be classified in the following way.

"Arguing with liberals...it's like playing chess with a pigeon; no matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, crap on the board and strut around like it's victorious." -- Anonymous "If you can somehow force a liberal into a point-counterpoint argument, his retorts will bear no relation to what you’ve said — unless you were in fact talking about your looks, your age, your weight, your personal obsessions, or whether you are a fascist. In the famous liberal two-step, they leap from one idiotic point to the next, so you...

We now know that Obama Administration actions were intentional and partisan when the Internal Revenue Service targeted, harmed, and intimidated conservative and tea party organizations. Keep in mind the timetable while reading this – that the plot against conservatives inside the IRS was gearing up in March 2010 and in full force in September 2010, according to recently released Lois Lerner emails. Also keep in mind that Lois Lerner previously worked enforcement at the Federal Election Commission. The Obama Administration offered excuses that disparate treatment of conservatives was a result of confusion or accidental mishandling by lower-level staff. Yet these...

A judge has granted a temporary protective injunction against U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, after his wife filed paperwork accusing the Orlando congressman of shoving and injuring her during an incident this weekend. Lolita Grayson's petition for the injunction, dated Monday, says her husband pushed her against a door, causing her to fall to the ground, during a confrontation Saturday at their home on Oak Park Road, near Windermere. /snip After she refused, retrieved his mail and asked him to leave, Alan Grayson "then deliberately and with force pushed [Lolita Grayson] very hard against the front door, causing [her] to fall...

Apparently it's not enough to use the IRS and FCC to shut down the opposition. What does an aspiring democrat Senator wannabe do when he doesn't like an opposition TV ad? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kpjyr1x7mC0Attack the woman cancer victim in the ad, and then threaten to take the station off the air. While Julie Boonstra of Dexter, Mich., struggles to survive leukemia, she now also has to cope with being called a liar by the Democrat who wants to be her next senator. And the campaign of Rep. Gary Peters is also going after television stations airing ads in which her story is...

'Liberal men are less masculine': How millionaire women prefer conservative partners who 'wear the pants' in a relationship When it comes to dating and romance, most people prefer to be with a partner who shares the same political views. But it seems that when money is involved, this preference seems to go out the window. Nearly 77per cent of democrat female millionaires, and 82per cent of female millionaires overall, said they 'would prefer to date a conservative man,' according MillionaireMatch.com. 'I don’t want a liberal man, I want someone who believes in a traditional family,' said one female millionaire. Other...

We deserve better than Fox News I’ve gathered information for this column from two recent books: David Brock’s “The Fox Effect: How Roger Ailes Turned a Network into a Propaganda Machine” (2012) and Gabriel Sherman’s “The Loudest Voice in the Room,” (2014). Both books deserve serious attention, if only to refute. If you watch Fox News, you owe it to yourself to understand its history and outlook. If you find Fox News unbalanced and unfair, both books offer powerful support. Thinking Americans — whether liberal or conservative — have every reason to feel deeply, constantly, seriously dissatisfied. Consider: (1) Watching...
