**SNIP** Boyle is a Legal Observer with the Chicago chapter of the National Lawyers Guild, an 81-year-old organization of left-leaning lawyers who support progressive causes, founded as a counterweight to the famously conservative American Bar Association, which excluded African-Americans from membership until 1943. There are about 100 Legal Observers with the Chicago chapter, trained volunteers whose job is to watch police during a protest, record any alleged violations of civil liberties and, according to the group’s directive, serve “as a deterrent to unconstitutional behavior.” **SNIP** “My job with the Lawyers Guild was to mobilize law students to help out (as...

Celebrity Big Brother bosses before storming off set just two hours before the show was set to air ...A source close to the show said last night: ‘We have seen some meltdowns before but never anything on this scale. ...On Friday morning, Ms Daniels left Channel 5 furious once again when she booked herself to star on ITV’s Loose Women...However, after learning of her appearance, Channel 5’s lawyers contacted ITV staff to warn them they would be in breach of visa restrictions because they had sponsored her to work in the UK for them and nobody else...

Own property and been renting it out in Florida for three years now. I'm sure we have freepers that have done this for decades and even some that got out of it. 1) We see the renter that asks? Do you accept Section 8? Aside from what that might allow, does section 8 allow for payment of last month rent. Is the security deposit in anyway dictated by that govt program? 2) We see potential tenants tell us about 'service animals' that we must take and allow in. We read that at least in Florida the statute does not allow...

First-ever election win for pit bull advocates SPRINGFIELD, Missouri––Out-spending voices for animal and human safety by a margin perhaps as high as $10,000 to $1.00, pit bull advocates on August 7, 2018 celebrated their first-ever defeat of a pit bull ban in a municipal general election. Reversing the outcome of earlier attempts to repeal pit bull bans in Miami-Dade County, Florida, and Aurora, Colorado, pit bull advocates in Springfield, Missouri polled at least 21,142 votes, or 68% of the votes cast, against 9,772 votes (32%) for the ban. Older breed-specific ordinance remains in effect Opened Question 1 on the Springfield...

First time for a proposed pit bull ban to go before voters prior to taking effect SPRINGFIELD, Missouri––Opens Question 1 on the August 7, 2018 primary election ballot for the City of Springfield, Missouri: “Shall the City of Springfield establish a future ban upon the possession of new pit bull dogs within the City limits by prohibiting acceptance of any new pit bull registrations and only allowing renewals of existing current pit bull dog registrations?” The language of the proposed Springfield pit bull ban was approved by the city council, voting 5-4, in November 2017. Backlash “The backlash was immediate,”...

The bitter divorce battle between billionaire bond king Bill Gross and his ex-wife is beginning to stink — like vomit, flatulence and dead fish. The California moneyman, who lost his beloved 13,819-square-foot Laguna Beach home to his ex-wife in the breakup, used foul-smelling sprays to leave the place a stinking mess — and placed dead fish in the air vents, a “disgusted” Sue Gross claimed in court papers last week. Mrs. Gross, who won a temporary restraining order against Bill last week, has the evidence of his foul play — empty spray bottles in the trash cans... In addition, security...

ANIMAL WATCH-Any dog attack is alarming, painful and can cause lasting injury -- whether it is by a Pit Bull or a Chihuahua--regardless of whether victims are merely knocked down or the animal sinks its teeth into their flesh. Plus, there are other victims in every attack--family members, witnesses, those who try to stop the attack, employers, and landlords or business owners on whose property the incident occurs. There have been two reported attacks by dogs on airlines in the past year: In June 2017, a man was mauled by an emotional support dog on a Delta Air Lines flight...

NY Times Editorial: If Trump “has nothing illegal or untoward to hide, why does he care about the [attorney-client] privilege in the first place?” There isn’t much of a pretense anymore that the Mueller investigation is about alleged Russian campaign collusion. Maybe it started out about collusion, but it veered off course within a couple of months, when Mueller decided that Paul Manafort needed to be investigated for conduct many years ago having nothing to do with the campaign, or even Russia. Rod Rosenstein created the paperwork in early August 2017 to retroactively expand Mueller’s investigation and justify Mueller conduct...

The cardinal's comments came even as the Supreme Court had recently observed that the charges against the cardinal were of a very serious nature. [Photo] Cardinal George Alencherry KOCHI: Cardinal George Alencherry, who is at the centre of the controversial land deals of the Ernakulam-Angamaly archdiocese, has said the legal system of the country should not interfere in the Canon laws. Speaking after the Good Friday Mass at the Kokkamangalam St. Thomas Church in Alappuzha, Cardinal Alenchery, Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church, said it was the "duty of the citizen to obey the rule of law existing in the country,...

John Dowd, a personal attorney to President Trump, resigned his post Thursday amid a shake-up in the president’s legal team as Trump has sought more firepower to deal with the special counsel’s Russia investigation. The resignation came Thursday, according to three people familiar with the decision. Dowd declined to comment. Dowd’s departure was a largely mutual decision made after the president lost confidence in his ability to handle special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s investigation and Dowd became frustrated with Trump’s recent efforts to bring on new attorneys, they said. In recent weeks, Dowd clashed with the president, including an...

This year seems to end on a very interesting note. We just got word that a Federal Elections Committee complaint was filed by the Committee to Defend the President against the Hillary Victory Fund (HVF), also known as Hillary Clinton’s campaign organization, but that’s not all. The complaint also mentions state Democratic parties, the Democratic National Committee and a number of DEM mega donors. The ironically named Hillary Victory Fund asked for six figure donations from Democratic donors and then routed the cash through state parties in a money laundering scheme of sorts. Finally, the money ended up into Hillary...

It’s outrageous that after nearly a year in office AG Sessions is now considering an investigation into the Clinton Foundation and the approval of the sale of US uranium to Russia by Hillary Clinton and the Obama Administration. The fact that Congress asked the Justice Department to look into the many corrupt and criminal actions of the Clintons and the Obama Administration and that we are just finding out now that Sessions is looking into these issues is appalling. What took Sessions so long? Is he even serious about looking into these crimes? Americans have known for years that the...

Okay, the fake news is all abuzz about Mueller and indictment and grand jury and arrests on Monday (maybe)...and it all seems to stem from (again) unnamed sources. Well, correct me if I am WRONG, but I could have sworn that when this whole stupid "TrumpRussia" crap started, it was made clear that MUELLER was appointed as Special Counsel, NOT a special prosecutor. ANYTHING he discovered would be brought to DOJ and the DOJ would decide whether to pursue indictment. Am I wrong? Additionally, why would there be an ARREST? Here I really don't get it. If someone is the...

A Houston man is on the hook for $65,000 in child support for a child that's not his. Gabriel Cornejo, 45, took a DNA test proving a child his ex-girlfriend had 16 years ago was not his. The test was too late. In 2003, a child support court in Houston ruled that Cornejo owed his ex-girlfriend child support because, she claims, there was no way he wasn't the father.

Election-law experts say it is far from clear whether Donald Trump Jr.’s 2016 meeting with a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer crossed a legal line. President Trump’s eldest son arranged a meeting in June of last year between top campaign aides and a Russian lawyer who has been linked to the Kremlin, after being told she “might have information helpful to the campaign..." Federal election law prohibits foreign nationals or foreign governments from contributing or donating money or “anything of value” to a political campaign. It also makes it a felony for a campaign or members of a campaign to knowingly and...

A Democratic congressman has proposed convening a special committee of psychiatrists and other doctors whose job would be to determine if President Donald Trump is fit to serve in the Oval Office. Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin, who also teaches constitutional law at American University, has predictably failed to attract any Republicans to his banner.

...Should the Supreme Court decline to issue the temporary stay, the government is asking that the court agree to put the case on an accelerated schedule that would allow the justices to schedule arguments at the beginning of the fall term in October. Four votes are required to grant the request for the court to hear the case -- to determine if the travel ban is constitutional. But because the executive order is temporary -- the entry ban is to last for 90 days and the refugee provisions for 120 days –- it is conceivable that the executive order could...

In an article for the Washington Examiner last week, writer Mark Grabowski pondered the idea of whether Twitter’s routine censorship could be unconstitutional. “Most Americans know they can speak their mind in the public square, thanks to the First Amendment. Speech on social media, however, can be censored because private companies own those cyber spaces,” wrote Grabowski on Tuesday. “But a recent Supreme Court oral argument suggests Twitter’s practice of banning controversial right-wing pundits could be deemed illegal.” Grabowski explained how the internet is now the popular public square, and how legally it should be treated as such. Driving the...
