HBO host Bill Maher had MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell as one of his guests on “Real Time” Friday night, and the two were adamant that the Second Amendment cannot protect against tyranny (and that such a conversation shouldn’t even really be happening in this age). After pointing out the poll where 44% of Republicans said an armed revolution might be necessary in order to protect liberties in the next few years, compared to 18% of Democrats, Maher said: “Can we get to, first of all, how ridiculous it is for people to think that the Second Amendment protects them from tyranny....

It really is amazing how liberal media members regularly make false statements on national television with total impunity. Consider MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell who twice on HBO's Real Time Friday arrogantly claimed that the Obamas' federal income tax rate was "in the high twenties" (video follows with transcribed lowlights and commentary): Lawrence O’Donnell: Obama’s Tax Rate ‘In the High Twenties’; Nope! Try 18.4% In a discussion about the federal budget, Pete Hegseth, the CEO of Concerned Veterans for America, said, “We missed some opportunities by not arguing for the simplification of the codes that Mitt Romney and President Obama and everyone...

On Wednesday's The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell, MSNBC analyst Richard Wolffe -- formerly of Newsweek -- claimed that President Bush "ignored all the warnings about al-Qaeda wanting to attack the homeland" before 9/11 as he mocked Republicans for praising Bush's record of preventing terrorist attacks on U.S. soil after the 9/11 attacks. As he alluded to Republicans criticizing President Clinton for not handling al-Qaeda more aggressively during his presidency, Wolffe asserted: You couldn't just say that 9/11 came out of nothing. It wasn't a total surprise because, in their narrative, Bill Clinton and, by extension, all Democrats somehow lost...

The gay son of Rep. Matt Salmon, Arizona Republican, told KPNX-TV in Phoenix on Sunday that both MSNBC’s “The Last Word With Lawrence O'Donnell” and CNN’s “Piers Morgan Live” canceled interviews with him because he refused to attack his father on the air. Matt R. Salmon, the son, said MSNBC canceled his appearance because “they had intended to be critical of him and … I was unwilling to do so.” He also said CNN “seemed very gung ho about” an interview at first, but when he said he was supportive of his father, “they seemed to lose interest.”

MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell delivered an unexpectedly laudatory eulogy for Margaret Thatcher on The Last Word Monday night, but it was not one that many of her Republican admirers would appreciate. While conservative columnist George Will credited Thatcher for helping to “bury socialism as a doctrine of governance†in his tribute to the former British prime minister in The Washington Post, O’Donnell praised her for upholding the “good socialism†that still exists in Britain.“What do you call a person who gets rid of bad socialism and keeps good socialism?†O’Donnell asked. “I call that person a good socialist, like Margaret Thatcher.â€...

Lawrence O’Donnell used his “Rewrite” segment Monday night to take on Sarah Palin‘s joke-filled CPAC speech and what her continued presence on the national stage means for the state of the political media. Calling Palin “by far, the best comedian of the 2008 presidential campaign,” O’Donnell admonished members of the “mainstream media” for continuing to take her seriously as a political candidate, especially after she resigned as Alaska’s governor. Instead of maligning the “lamestream media,” O’Donnell said Palin should have been thanking the “even lamer-stream media” for propping her up as a potential GOP frontrunner for 2012. “The story of...

“This is Scott Brown’s full Palin.” MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell used his “Rewrite” segment Monday night to pay tribute to Scott Brown‘s political career, which he deemed dead today after the former Massachusetts senator and one-time GOP presidential prospect announced that he would be taking a job with Boston law firm Nixon Peabody. O’Donnell reviewed Brown’s short span in the political spotlight, from his unexpected ascent to Ted Kennedy‘s old Senate seat to his recent loss to Sen. Elizabeth Warren after a hard-fought and very expensive campaign. Since the election, Brown has taken a job as a Fox News contributor and...

Was it a momentous occasion Wednesday when Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) drew praise from Rush Limbaugh to Code Pink, from Van Jones to Jennifer Rubin, by forcing the Obama administration to cough up at least some ball-advancing if unsatisfying answers about how and when it feels OK about assassinating American citizens on U.S. soil? MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell thinks so. And not in a good way: "It was the first time the black-helicopter crowd out there had one of their own, speaking into a Senate microphone," O'Donnell hissed...

Despite its best efforts, the American Conservative Union might not have anyone from MSNBC at this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference, as Lawrence O’Donnell was forced to decline his invitation due to a scheduling conflict. The host of ‘The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell‘ announced on his show Wednesday night that he would not be able to attend CPAC 2013, despite his desire to do so. “My schedule is not as flexible as the unemployed Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, Donald Trump, so I had to send my regrets,” he said. O’Donnell did express surprise at receiving an invitation to the...

Remember when ABC obtained a police station surveillance tape which supposedly showed no injuries to George Zimmerman, thereby allegedly disproving his claim that he was being beaten when he shot Trayvon Martin? The Martin family lawyer along with plenty of left-wing blogs (including a once-famous photo analyst) used that video to proclaim Zimmerman’s guilt. Among those leading the charge against Zimmermanw as a totally out of control Lawrence O’Donnell, furious that Zimmerman’s lawyer at the time refused to sit for an abuse session with O’Donnell: (VIDEO AT LINK) Subsequent to that, additional photos and medical evidence were released showing that...

Ann Coulter October 24, 2012 OBAMA: HALF-BLACK BUT ALL DEMOCRAT New York can be a lonely and desolate city. My only date on this rainy Tuesday night is Chris Matthews -- the last liberal left who will still talk to me about race. The rest of the Non-Fox Media are lying in wait, hoping I'll disappear so they can revive the old chestnuts about racist Republicans again. Among many such myths, there's Reagan's Philadelphia speech, George W. Bush's speech at Bob Jones University, someone yelling "Kill him" at the mention of Barack Obama's name at a Sarah Palin rally,...

Progressives are not having a good week. After a debate “victory” for President Obama, which amounted to simply being caffeinated because the bar was set so low after the first debate, his Libya lies are still haunting him. Yes, moderator Candy Crowley saved his bacon in the moment, but she ended up costing him by forcing a reluctant media to continue to cover the story. He may have won the night, but he lost the week because of it. Had the president simply taken responsibility for his administration’s security failures, apologized, said it would haunt him and shape his actions...

Major network? It's difficult to remember sometimes, but MSNBC is a part of NBC News and not an arm of Ringling Brothers. However, the clowns do come out at night, and Larry O'Donnell led the parade last night with one of the more ridiculous demonstrations of outrageous outrage in recent American broadcasting. O'Donnell takes Tagg Romney's joke about wanting to take a swing at President Obama when Obama kept asserting that his father was lying during the debate, and turns it into this Johnson-measuring moment that went on for almost three minutes. And it wouldn't be complete without the gratuitous class-warfare...

With each passing day, the Obama-loving media stoop to new lows in attacking the presumptive Republican presidential nominee and his family. On MSNBC's The Last Word Monday, host Lawrence O'Donnell mocked Ann Romney for having the nerve to combat her multiple sclerosis by riding horses (video follows with transcript and commentary): LAWRENCE O’DONNELL, HOST: In tonight's Rewrite, Mitt Romney rewrites the definition of an Olympic athlete. (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) BOB SCHIEFFER, HOST OF “FACE THE NATION”: I hear you've got an Olympic athlete in the family. MITT ROMNEY: Isn't that something? Yeah, it's not me. It's my wife, of course....

“Tonight, the really big winner in the Wisconsin recall election is President Obama,” MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell said at the top of his Tuesday program after parent network NBC called the race for Gov. Scott Walker over Democrat Tom Barrett. Over the past several months, the left-leaning hosts at MSNBC have put a lot of emphasis on the Wisconsin recall, saying it was important for current Walker to be defeated in order to maintain the American middle class. “John Heilemann, I said at the top of the show that President Obama big winner tonight because in the exit polls we...

Lawrence O'Donnell yesterday on The Last Word vehemently denounced Newsweek's "The First Gay President" cover because he thought it could mislead many people into believing that message. Ironically (and hilariously) "FIRST GAY PRESIDENT" in bold capital letters along with Obama's picture kept appearing on the MSNBC screen throughout O'Donnell's denunciation. His own screen graphics amusingly worked in contradiction to his arguments as if to mock O'Donnell.

LAWRENCE O` DONNELL(MSNBC The Last Word) : It`s a good thing you weren`t at that press conference today. The reporters I think did mostly a terrible job. There were a couple of good questions. “The New York Times†had a good question. But they didn`t go in for the precision we need at this point. What did you hear there today you would like to contest? GLORIA ALLRED, ATTORNEY FOR CAIN ACCUSER: Well, I mean, he just was all over the place. You know, forget the lie detector for this one. O`DONNELL: There ain`t going to be a lie detector,...

Coming soon: Occupy National Restaurant Association? MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell on his primetime show last night shared names and photos of senior officials of the National Restaurant Association (NRA) in order to intimidate them in ending the confidentiality agreements between the group and the two women it settled with that claimed they were sexually assaulted. O'Donnell also called for a boycott of the restaurants the group represents as well as an occupation of their headquarters. Continue reading for details. "I want people to see the people who are currently protecting the secrets of Herman Cain," O'Donnell said as a photograph of...
