I’d like to file another anecdotal pre-election enthusiasm report from fly-over America. Yesterday Raj and I took a mini color tour on the backroads of the mitten state. To be fair I should point out that we steered clear of urban areas and stuck to back roads through little burgs and farmland – natural Trumper habitat. Nevertheless, during a day long trip that included no backtracking I saw a grand total of 3 Hillary signs and too-many-to-count Trump signs – literally dozens. Let’s hope that this severe enthusiasm gap translates to votes. You may recall that a few days back, following...

Can you possibly think of a better way to throw a monkey wrench into the DFL's plans? Can you please spare a few minutes to pick up a lawn sign or maybe lit drop your neighborhood? Anything you can do would be great. According to www.protectmyvote.com, here are the locations and times: "Voter ID" Lawn Sign Pick-Up Thank you for...

OCTOBER 28--Angered that two neighborhood teenagers knocked over a John McCain sign on his lawn, an Ohio man allegedly grabbed a rifle and fired three times at the duo as they sought to drive away from his Warren Township home. Kenneth Rowles, 50, was charged with felonious assault in connection with the Saturday afternoon incident, which resulted in one boy suffering a minor bullet wound. According to a Warren Township Police Department report, Patrick Wise, 16, yelled, "This is for Obama" as he knocked over the McCain sign. Wise's cousin, Kyree Flowers, 17, was waiting in the passenger seat of...

Just got back from a resting vactation in the red states. I'll post some of that in the blog section soon. Left Illinois last Friday, what impressed me is that from Rockford, IL (where I saw my last Kerry sticker) until the following Monday, I saw dozens of Bush bumperstickers and signs. On Monday in Theodore Roosevelt National Park (North Dakota) I saw my next Kerry sticker. (California plates). Lovely, since I traveled thru the battleground states of Wisconsin, Minnesota to get to North Dakota. I saw plenty of Bush stickers in South Dakota and Nebraska. No Kerry stuff (although...

Front lawns, traditionally the front lines for Minnesota's sign-scattering politicians, have become the latest battleground in the debate over a possible U.S. attack on Iraq.

Just drive down Upper Afton Road in Maplewood to get a sense of it. That's where Brandon Meyer, a 40-year-old electrician who lives across the street from Carver Elementary School, planted a "Liberate Iraq; Support Our Troops" sign two weeks ago. His next-door neighbor, substitute social-studies teacher Rita Brenner, has had her "Say No to War With Iraq" placard up since September.
