Sunbathers are being urged to stay indoors today despite temperatures soaring to 72F as people are reminded to keep their distance. But it seems a flock of lambs in Preston, Lancashire, flouted the the two-metre rule to enjoy the spring weather and have their daily exercise. Hairdresser Debbie Ellis, 52, captured an adorable clip of the lambs as they hopped onto a deserted roundabout and spinned around while enjoying the playground to themselves.

The Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts have had male cheerleaders who perform stunts, but, until now, none that have danced. Quinton Peron and Napoleon Jinnies found out that they made the Rams cheerleading squad this week. According to The Wrap: Peron and Jinnies have been performing their entire lives. They were among the 76 finalists chosen for the 40-person squad, and Jinnies says this audition was unlike anything he had done before. ‘This one was about three weeks long and we had a bunch of rehearsals in between and an extensive interview process, but it was really humbling and amazing...

A specter is haunting Europe - the specter of the Caliphate. The world of Quisling’s followers, barbarian colonizers and submissive or at best frightened murmuring herd - this is the Western Europe of the 21st century In 1975, he was 40 years old, and he was well-known already: his performances were popular; he was a member of the editorial board of a famous literary magazine. Any path was open before him, but he chose a different way.

The Schmallenberg virus causes lambs to be born dead or with serious deformities such as fused limbs and twisted necks, which mean they cannot survive. 74 farms across southern and eastern England have been hit by the virus, which arrived in this country in January. A thousand farms in Europe have reported cases since the first signs of the virus were seen in the German town of Schmallenberg last summer. Infected ewes do not show any symptoms of the virus until they give birth, with horrific results. Farmers have described delivering the deformed and stillborn animals as heartbreaking. There are...

Strong immunity may play a key role in determining long life, but may do so at the expense of reduced fertility, a Princeton University study has concluded. An 11-year study of a population of wild sheep located on a remote island off the coast of Scotland that gauged the animals' susceptibility to infection may give new insight into why some people get sicker than others when exposed to the same illness. The answer to this medical puzzle may lie in deep-rooted differences in how animals survive and reproduce in the wild, according to the study, which was led by Princeton...

Muslims are asking farmers to illegally slaughter animals as part of their Eid celebrations. Environmental health chiefs are warning farmers against the illicit practice after one was approached by a group of Muslims wanting to ritually sacrifice 40 lambs. The men approached farmer Alan Davies asking to buy and illicitly kill lambs on his land as part of the Eid celebrations which start today. Mr Davies, 58, of Pinfold Farm, Ribchester, Lancs, alerted health officers after men came knocking at his door on two separate occasions. Environmental health chiefs across East Lancashire have since sent out hundreds of letters to...

St. Louis Domestic Courtroom Drama St. Louis Missouri A seven-year old boy was at the center of a St Louis County court room drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulation requiring that family unity be maintained to the highest degree possible. The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live...

Negev Jews are latest sacrificial lambs Did Mofaz delay defenses to maintain support for disengagement? By Ryan Jones January 24th, 2006 Israel's left-wing establishment, of which Ariel Sharon's disengagement-minded Kadima Party is the newest star, has for more than a decade insisted Israelis must offer themselves as sacrifices on the alter of peace. A new State Comptroller's report released Sunday indicates the Jewish residents of towns and cities bordering the Gaza Strip are the latest victims of this logic. The contents of the report seem to suggest the Sharon government, and in particular Defense Minister Sha'ul Mofaz, purposefully delayed the...
