The website for progressive talk KTLK AM 1150 in Los Angeles now redirects to a countdown clock, for in a couple days they will become 1150 The Patriot with conservative talk. The new call letters will be KEIB, as in Excellence in Broadcasting. They'll have Glenn Beck (6a), Rush Limbaugh (9a), Sean Hannity (noon) etc. Clear Channel is making KFI 640 in a local-talk type of operation. Progressive talk is now in tatters as they will lost stations in NY, LA, and San Fran. The NY station is WWRL AM 1600, which will switch to Spanish language programming. Also WOR...

Rush Limbaugh's radio tirades will have a new home on Los Angeles airwaves next year. KFI-AM (640) is losing the conservative host's three-hour show, long a fixture on the station, to KTLK-AM (1150), which owner Clear Channel is hoping to pump up as an outlet exclusively dedicated to right-leaning chatter. The company, which also owns KFI, will use Limbaugh's audience to anchor the new lineup for KTLK, which is being dubbed "The Patriot" and will also feature national shows by Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity. Clear Channel is making similar changes in San Francisco, where Limbaugh will leave its KKSF-AM...

The MinnPost.com's David Brauer says the surprising switch "will happen before the opening of the Minnesota Vikings regular season September 11, and conceivably, early in the exhibition schedule." The NFL team is already simulcast on both KFAN-AM and KTLK-FM, and Clear Channel was already planning to simulcast the college football games of the University of Minnesota Gophers. The flip will put the potentially more lucrative all-sports KFAN franchise, with its strong 25-54 male demos, on a Class C1 signal with 100,000 watts at 922 feet. The KTLK-FM talk format, which replaced jazz KJZI in January 2006, will find a new...
