HANOVER, NH -- The morning of Wednesday, Nov. 12 started out like any other Wednesday. My alarm went off at 5:50 a.m., I hit the snooze button, and then heard that dreaded chirping sound 5 minutes later. I dragged myself out of bed, threw my clothes on, and headed to morning swim workout expecting to hear a familiar "you're late" from Coach Jim Wilson. Instead, as we lifted weights that morning, our coach announced that General Wesley Clark would be joining us in the pool in a little less than an hour. Excited, but confused as to why a presidential...

AMY GOODMAN: I guess what surprised so many people when you sent out your letter, and now in your book, on Wesley Clark, I don’t think people were surprised that he ran for president, but that he’s called the anti-war worrier, that this is the man who said the rest of the world has got to get with us, this is the man who presided over the bombing of Yugoslavia. MICHAEL MOORE: Well, yeah, I put it in “Bowling for Columbine,” I’m so upset still about what happened in Kosovo, it’s in my movie. I found a way to work...

The Al Jazeera television network is touting the latest campaign trail rhetoric from presidential hopeful Gen. Wesley Clark to exonerate al Qaeda in the 9/11 attacks. In a report posted to the top of its web site Wednesday afternoon, the Arab-based news service ran the headline, "Clark: No al-Qaeda connection to 9/11." "A leading US Democrat and presidential hopeful has said in a press conference that al-Qaeda was not connected to the 11 September attacks," Al Jazeera maintained. The report continued: "Speaking in Dallas, Texas on Wednesday, Wesley Clark said that the US president took the country to war for...

Democratic presidential hopeful Gen. Wesley Clark insisted Wednesday morning that he's been against the Iraq war going all the way back to the 9/11 attacks - even though he told reporters just four months ago that he "probably" would have voted for the Oct. 2002 Iraq War resolution. "I was consistently against this since from the time the guys from the Pentagon told me two weeks after 9/11 that we were attacking Iraq," Clark told ABC's "Good Morning America." "It didn't make any sense to me. I've been very, very consistent on this." Not exactly. It turns out that as...

General Wesley Clark unleashed his most blistering attack yet on the Bush administration in the president's home state Monday, vowing to win Texas in November if he is the Democratic nominee. "I think we're at risk with our democracy," Clark told an audience of about 500 people at a fund-raiser at the Westin Galleria hotel. "I think we're dealing with the most closed, imperialistic, nastiest administration in living memory. They even put Richard Nixon to shame. They are a threat to what this nation stands for, and we need to get him out of the White House. And we're going...

General Clark asked him to pass on this message to the online community and supporters. General Clark is outraged! The New York Times and pundits on CNN have utterly distorted the facts about his statements regarding Iraq and al Qaeda. Here are the facts: Wes Clark has always said that there was some link between al Qaeda and Saddam's intelligence agents. But he has also always maintained that there is NO...

(CNSNews.com) - Billionaire financier and philanthropist George Soros, who has pledged $15.5 million to liberal interest groups, said Monday he would likely up the ante in his quest to oust President Bush from the White House this November. Speaking before the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, D.C., Soros declined to say how much he would give or when he might make the next donation. But he said the attacks he has endured from conservatives -- the Republican National Committee and the Bush campaign are two of his biggest critics -- have fueled his restlessness. "I've been really quite...

    # Can even a four-star general promise to prevent all attacks? Just as former governor Howard Dean seeks safer ground, Gen. Wesley Clark is marching in the opposite direction. Clark said yesterday the United States has nothing to fear from biological or nuclear weapons as long as the country remains united and takes the correct approach to security. He characterized as big lies the conventional wisdom that the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks could not have been prevented and that another major terrorist strike is inevitable. "If I'm president of the United States, I'm going to take care of the...

Democratic presidential hopeful Gen. Wesley Clark has repeatedly blamed President Bush for not protecting America from the 9/11 attacks, regularly invoking Harry Truman's Oval Office motto, "The buck stops here." But when it comes to intelligence gathered during the Clinton administration on the threat posed by Osama bin Laden, the then-Supreme Commander of NATO said Sunday that it just wasn't his job to intervene. Clark passed the buck in bin Laden during the following exchange with NBC "Meet the Press" host Tim Russert: RUSSERT: When you were Supreme NATO Commander were you aware of Osama bin Laden [and] al Qaeda?...

The retired general and former NATO (news - web sites) commander said Saddam's capture was welcome news that could have an impact on the anti-coalition insurgency in Iraq (news - web sites). "I hope this will see a diminishing in the violence against American soldiers in Iraq," he told reporters as he arrived in the Netherlands. Clark did not say who should try Saddam, but said the trial should be conducted with "the highest legal standards. There can be absolutely no doubt about the rights of the accused." Hey FReepers, I'd love to get some help settling a domestic dispute. I maintain that Wesley Clark is one fierce weirdo. Xena's misguided Guy finds him interesting (although, one hopes, not vote-worthy) and wants evidence supporting my contention of weirdness. I know I've seen some threads here on FR, about Clark's beliefs in harmonic convergence or TM or something equally freakish . . . can any of y'all help me out? I really love the Guy, and I'd hate to have to denounce him to HUAC or P.J. O'Rourke or similar. Many thanks!

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. -- On the presidential campaign trail Tuesday morning, Democrat Wesley Clark said he has not ruled out Hillary Clinton as his running mate if he wins the Democratic presidential nomination. Clark praised the New York senator as a great person and a great leader and said he has admired her for 20 years. Speaking in Portsmouth, Clark continued criticizing President George W. Bush for America's policy in Iraq and on its preparation for the terrorist attacks in 2001. He said Bush neglected to investigate Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida network before the attacks.

Did anyone else catch Clark being interviewd on Fox News? He was almost hyperventalating as he called on the President and the RNC to pull the ad and not run it any more. He said "How dare they say that the candidates running for election are for terrorism." After reading the text of the Ad, I have concluded that he must be feeling a tad guilty, because the Ad doesn't say anything about them supporting terrorism. Although it should!! Because that is what they are doing.
