More than 100 Kenyans were deported from the United States in 2017, a sharp increase during Donald Trump's first year as president. The rise in the number of Kenyans removed from the US — from 63 in 2016 to 103 last year — reflects an overall increase in deportations of Africans. US authorities expelled a total of 2, 134 individuals from sub-Saharan countries in the past fiscal year, which ended on September 30, 2017. Somalia, one of eight countries targeted in the latest iteration of Mr Trump's selective ban on immigration, accounted for the sharpest increase in African removals. A...

Four villagers in north-east Kenya have chased down and captured two cheetahs which were killing their goats. The owner of the goats told the BBC that the cheetahs had been picking off his animals one by one, day by day. The men waited until the hottest part of the day before launching the chase over a distance of four miles (6.4km). The cheetahs got so tired they could not run any more. The villagers captured them alive and handed them over to the Kenya Wildlife Service.

There have been clashes near the Kenyan border with Islamist militias being pursued by Ethiopian and Somali troops. Kenya has deployed tanks and helicopters to...

NAIROBI, Kenya - During a visit to his father's homeland, Sen. Barack Obama electrified the thousands of Kenyans who thronged every stop of his tour. Some hoped for promises of largesse, others to bask in the glory of a successful African-American politician, but all wanted to see the man they consider a local kid made good. "Simply by coming here, he was making a very important statement. He was telling all Kenyans, and especially our youth, that the sky is really the limit," columnist Dominic Odipo wrote in Kenya's oldest newspaper, The Standard. This despite the fact that Obama never...

Kenyans are 'insulted' by dog food offer By Mike Pflanz in Nairobi (Filed: 01/02/2006) A New Zealand businesswoman has provoked outrage in Kenya by promising to ship 42 tons of dog food mix to feed starving children. "It is immoral. It is unacceptable," said John Munyes, Kenya's special programmes minister, who is co-ordinating the response to the drought that has put up to four million people at risk of starvation. He added: "I am offended. It is demeaning." Christine Drummond, a pet-food manufacturer, said she planned to send Kenya 6,000 emergency packs of Mighty Mix dog biscuit containing freeze-dried pork,...

A group of Kenyans living in America have been blocked from campaigning for Democratic Party Senate candidate Barack Obama. Efforts by the Kenyans to raise funds and set up a website link were all blocked by Obama's advisors. There is speculations that the Democratic Party advisors have been uneasy about a group of Kenyans engaging actively in the Obama campaigns. There have been fears that the Republican Party might use that to claim that Obama received money from illegal migrants. In March, Obama made his primary win historic by winning more than 52 per cent of the vote in a...
