Matt DeHart, a former American soldier who sought asylum in Canada claiming torture by U.S. agents probing Anonymous hackers and WikiLeaks, was taken from his Ontario prison cell Sunday morning and delivered to U.S. agents at the border. Mr. DeHart, 30, was allowed to make a quick phone call en route to his parents, who are living in Toronto facing their own removal order, said his father, Paul. “He was peaceful and in good health,” Paul DeHart said in an interview but the family remains deeply worried. “We are concerned about Matt’s safety as he transits,” he said. “We said...
  • Maxwell Smart Was Right - Islamism and Leftism may just be frenemies-but behind them lurks "KAOS."

It's a puzzlement: Why do leftists tolerate radical Islam? Begging the question: What does the man who Newsweek's cover declared is "the first gay president" think is going to happen once sharia comes to his zip code? Great minds are flummoxed by the attraction of two seeming political opposites. Even the late, brilliant cynic Christopher Hitchens was surprised and stunned by the blasé 1989 response of his leftist then-pals to the Salman Rushdie fatwa. Lesser minds on the left try to justify the wacky attraction by viewing global jihad as primarily a violent spasm of the economically exploited. If not...

The Internet giant AOL libeled Free Republic as "hosting child pornography" in an article published Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at their Daily Finance news site. The site's masthead reads: Daily Finance An AOL Money & Finance Site.Authored by Daily Finance media columnist Jeff Bercovici, the article entitled Muzzled Reporter Says 'Maw of Yahoo' No Place for Journalism tells the story about John Cook's reasons for leaving Yahoo News and returning to his previous gig with Gawker. According to the article, Cook was the senior national affairs reporter for Yahoo's The Upshot news blog. Bercovici notes that he and Cook are...

The AOL-owned site Daily Finance this morning retracted a passage in an article that falsely stated Free Republic hosted child pornography. The article was about reporter John Cook leaving Yahoo News to return to Gawker. Included in Cook's reasons for leaving, according to Daily Finance reporter Jeff Bercovici, was that Yahoo would not allow him to write about Free Republic "hosting child pornography." The Salon.com article that was linked to support that claim actually stated that Free Republic did not host child pornography. The offending Daily Finance passage now reads:"... On similar grounds, he was prohibited from writing about the conservative website...
  • [Clinton advisor] Harold Ickes' parting shot suggests more Democratic turmoil

Maybe it will prove an idle threat. But as the Democratic rules committee ended its lengthy meeting today in Washington today with a decision on the Michigan primary that left Hillary Clinton's campaign irate, the words from one of her chief strategists have to haunt party leaders striving for elusive unity. "Mrs. Clinton has instructed me to reserve her rights to take this to the credentials committee," Harold Ickes said. The rules panel, which Ickes serves on, achieved its goal of resolving one of the party's two disputed primaries -- the Florida contest -- in a way that Ickes and...

The mantra among the liberals is that the Mark Foley scandal is strictly a Republican problem. Unlike Democrat Congressman Gerry Studds who actually had sex with a page and was re-elected to office several times without a single Democrat demanding that he resign, Foley was forced to resign from office the moment his sicko IM messages became known. However, that was not enough for Democrats. Now they want to know why the Republican House leadership didn't do something earlier when they found out about Foley's messages. See, what the Democrats are doing is trying to confuse the low key...
