Give Joe Scarborough credit. Just when we were getting bored with all the Trump/Nazi analogies, Joe has come up with a new one. On today’s Morning Joe, Scarborough compared Trump press secretary Sean Spicer to an old Soviet spokesman and propagandist. Scarborough’s beef was that Spicer had supposedly said that the meeting of Trump campaign people including Donald, Jr. and the Russians was “just about adoptions.” Joe called that a “lie.” But have a look at the screenshot below, showing what Spicer actually said. Does Joe Scarborough believe that Donald Trump will be resigning the presidency sometime this summer? Seems so, judging from Joe’s baleful proclamation on today’s Morning Joe. Said Scarborough: “they have dug so far down low into the bunker that this is not Nixon in ’73. This is Nixon in the summer of ’74.” Nixon resigned the presidency on August 8, 1974. On today’s Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough stared into the camera and invited people to contact him if they’re aware of a presidential campaign that accepted “oppo research or support” from a foreign power. The question was based on a quote, shown on the screen, from former Romney campaign strategist Stuart Stevens asking whether any other campaign in history had received “oppo from foreign interests.” . . . Many Americans probably have forgotten, or never knew, that a 28-year-old female staff member was found dead in the summer of 2001 in the office of U.S. Rep. Joe Scarborough (R-FL). Officials in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, determined that Lori Klausutis died from an accident. The mainstream press largely ignored the case, but our review of several investigative reports indicates the official finding is highly questionable.

n what appeared to be a rare display of actual diversity, MSNBC and NBC News have signed New York Times columnist Bret Stephens while betting that increasing the diversity of voices on their airwaves will ultimately lead to a better news and analysis product. We get it. Joe Scarborough doesn’t approve of Donald Trump. Two weeks ago, we noted the Morning Joe host calling the president a “jackass.” Things are escalating, and there appears to be no sense of decorum left on Morning Joe. This morning, Scarborough called Trump a “schmuck” – a term that literally means penis in Yiddish, and is used as a pejorative to express contempt for a person. View the video here.

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough on Friday blamed White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon for President Trump's decision to back out of the Paris climate accord, saying that the move signals that Bannon "is now the president of the United States." Of course he is... I longer Scarborough can keep up the I’m-a-Republican-but-this-all-troubles-me-so-much schtick. Scarborough is first and foremost a creature of the Beltway culture. His party affiliation is hardly worth a footnote given that his job is to cater to mindset of the political class. Now, normal people (present company included) will offer no excuses for Greg Gianforte’s assault of a journalist, regardless of how obnoxious the guy’s behavior may have been, or how much we may think the journalism profession in general deserves one big body slam. There’s no excuse for it. No one will make any.

Joe Scarborough has painted a no-win portrait of VP Pence. On today’s Morning Joe, Scarborough said that Vice-President Pence “is either a sucker and a dupe for Donald Trump . . . or he’s a liar. There is no middle ground.” Giving Pence the dubious benefit of the doubt, Scarborough advised, “if it is the first, I think it’s about time for Mike Pence to go to Donald Trump and say, as I think most of us would, if you set me up to be your liar again, I’m walking.” View the video here.

After Mika cited a Washington Post article quoting an anonymous source who wondered whether President Trump “is in the grip of some kind of paranoid delusion,” Joe weighed in, saying he’s heard reports all weekend that “the president is running around, screaming at television sets.
