I believe that the ruling class politicians see Palin as a real threat to their status quo, and her postponement of announcing her candidacy as a hindrance to their stopping her. One way to force her hand earlier than she intends is to move up the primaries. Anybody else see a pattern here?

A basic definition of insanity often attributed to Albert Einstein is doing the same thing, over and over, while expecting different results. President Obama, by proposing nearly $500 billion more in government spending to "create jobs," demonstrates liberal insanity quite well. Michael Savage has a book out titled, "Liberalism is a Mental Disorder" — I think he's on to something. True enough, many liberal politicians may know full well that European-style socialism does not work. Sooner or later the well of other people's money runs dry. But, in the meantime, many are content to buy votes by taking wages from...

We always knew that Krugman couldn’t add or subtract. As an economist, the guy is a terrific writer. And fantasy is his genre. But the fact that he thinks that we’ve all been secretly ashamed of our reactions to 9/11 for the last ten years should be enough to place him in observation for indulging in too much fantasy. “What happened after 9/11 — and I think even people on the right know this, whether they admit it or not,” writes Krugman as his sick 9/11 tribute, “was deeply shameful. The atrocity should have been a unifying event, but instead...

Insane In The Membrane: Madness takes its toll in the mob based liberal horror show. No one in the liberal goon squad has the ability to think for themselves. They use the same mindless talking points, attacking in clusters, be it on Face Book, Twitter, or in public. Their mindless pack behavior extends to the vile emails they send to conservative media sources, bloggers and anyone who challenges their delusion with such things as fact and logic. If they spent the same time, energy and effort reading and educating themselves, they would suffer from a breakdown, as their reality would...

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- U.S. Sen. John McCain called on Pakistan to remove travel restrictions on American citizens during a meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani. McCain met with Gilani at his home in Islamabad Saturday, Pakistan's The Nation reported. Relations between Pakistan and the United States have been strained and worsened after U.S. Navy SEALs killed Osama bin Laden in Pakistan in May without notifying Pakistani officials. "Pakistan is a main ally of the United States in [the] war on terror so it should restore the old traveling system in mutual cooperation," said McCain, R-Ariz.

TUCSON-U.S. Republican Senator John McCain was in Tucson Tuesday for a town hall meeting. And, boy did he get an earful from constituents. McCain expected a rough meeting and he got it. The meeting room at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 1431 W. Magee Road, was packed. The crowd was mixed with people on all sides. There were Tea Party conservatives, moderate Republicans and liberal Democrats. All sides challenged McCain. Asked about entitlements, McCain said, "With Social Security we should be raising the retirement age gradually, not for present day beneficiaries." And some in the audience yelled back "no". The...

GILBERT - Arizona Sen. John McCain held a town hall in Gilbert this morning and the economy took center stage. The town hall was focused on the nations' economic troubles and McCain said the on-going financial problems would be much greater had Congress not passed a bill to keep the country from defaulting on its debt. McCain said he is very concerned with the recent S&P downgrade of the United States' credit rating and views it as a wake-up call to the nation. "It will cost more to borrow money and it is a very serious situation," McCain said. McCain...

(snip) MCCAIN: ... just wants to spend money. Hello? He just wants to spend more money. You and I are -- remember when Ronald Reagan said the worst deal he ever made was when he sat down with the Democrats and said they would cut spending $3 and raise taxes for every $1. Guess what? They raised taxes and they didn’t cut spending. That’s why the Tea Partiers and others would – I’m not a Tea Partier -- but the fact is, we need a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution. We couldn’t get it through the Senate as the...

The US should keep as many as 13,000 troops in Iraq beyond the end-of-year deadline for ending its eight-year combat mission there to help keep the peace around hot spots, according to John McCain, the influential Republican senator. (snip) “I understand the war weariness of the American people ... but I also believe that our interests are our values, for one thing,” he told the FT, adding that he was “puzzled” when people say the US should not act when Muammer Gaddafi, the Libyan leader, has been promising to go house to house and kill Libyans who oppose him. “We...

Earlier today I heard a news flash that the Unabomber's possessions were being auctioned off and that was the first thing that came to mind. I've since looked at some of the things that're being auctioned, but I didn't see that book among the things listed.(though it seems reasonable that if Gore's book is among the items, the media wouldn't mention it)

A woman who threw acid in her own face and blamed it on an unidentified stranger was ordered to pay a fine and seek mental health treatment after pleading guilty to lying to cops. Bethany Storro, a 28-year-old supermarket clerk for Vancouver, Wash., will pay a $500 fine, $4,000 in restitution and serve 240 hours of community service. "I am genuinely and deeply sorry, I am getting the help I need," said Storro, who was wearing a plastic medical mask over her scarred face. Storrro claimed last year that a woman she did not know threw a cup of acid...

Let me start today with some numbers so I can immediately put you to sleep. In fiscal year 2009, Washington said the country had a deficit of $1.4 trillion. In fiscal year 2010, which ended last September, Washington was pleased to announce that the deficit was only $1.3 trillion. I don't know about you but I do not find either of those numbers comforting, especially when the total debt being carried by the US is now a stunning $13.5 trillion. Remember the good ol' days -- like in the early 2000s -- when annual deficits that skyrocketed to, say, $200...

WASHINGTON -- Sen. John McCain called Moammar Khadafy "insane" today as he reaffirmed his call for a US-backed no-fly zone over Libya to prevent its embattled leader from using aircraft to slaughter its citizens. During an interview on ABC News' "This Week," McCain told Christiane Amanpour that the US cannot "risk allowing Gadhafi to massacre people from the air, both by helicopter and fixed-wing [aircraft]." McCain (R-Ariz.) furthered reiterated his support for imposing a no-fly zone, saying Ghadafi's air assets were "not overwhelming." "Let's just call a spade a spade. A no-fly zone begins with an attack on Libya to...

Anatomy of a Government Shutdown “Of course a shutdown is possible because that's what the Republicans are threatening us with on national TV, Meet the Press or one of those dandies or whatever the show was. The Republican leader was asked, and I'm paraphrasing, 'is there going to be a government shutdown?' and he wouldn't respond to the question. So, this isn't Schumer or Reid or Hoyer. Arizona senator and 2008 GOP presidential nominee John McCain is warning that Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak’s decision not to step down could touch off “a much more dangerous situation,” and he called for the Obama administration to tell Mubarak he must resign immediately. “The volatility of the situation was already very high,” McCain said on Fox News, “and I think it’s been ratcheted up dramatically. “I think the United States had better be more clear in our message to President Mubarak, that we are very clear in our message that he needs to step down,” McCain said. Here's one advantage to being a caretaker mayor: You can make tough decisions without worrying about their repercussions at the ballot box. That's exactly what Mayor Ed Lee has in his quiver as he prepares to make the difficult calls to balance the budget for 2011-12, which now has a $380 million deficit because of a recent $20 million increase in projected pension costs. "I have an opportunity to actually make some long-term reforms, reforms that will last," Lee told The Chronicle's editorial board on Tuesday. "I'm not speaking about any particular politician, but what I generally have felt is...
