    The New American ^ | November 8, 2023 | Alex Newman
The Deep State persecution of mostly peaceful January 6 protesters including the imprisonment without trial of numerous detainees for over 1,000 days is a symptom of the crumbling two-tiered “justice” system, explains J6 political prisoner and prominent activist Jake Lang in this interview on Conversations That Matter with The New American magazine’s Alex Newman. Lang, who was charged with “obstructing Congress,” is one of many still behind bars with no trial. However, he remains hopeful, even as he works to get the message out to Americans through various initiatives. In the second segment, Lang offers ways for Americans to get...

Cops deemed to not have performed well risk losing as many as 10 vacation days or two weeks pay, sources said. “They manage this through a spirit of fear,” said one veteran cop. “Maybe the officer doesn’t present his testimony good enough. So they say, ‘OK, we’re going to take a week’s pay from you.’ ” The result is higher conviction rates — and a tense atmosphere in which officers sometimes falsify their notes and don’t tell the truth in court to avoid being punished, police and defense lawyers say. Defense lawyers say sympathetic judges even coach cops on what...

A motorist who was pulled over after driving erratically and was methodically kicked in the head by a Henderson Police officer — while being videotaped by a Nevada Highway Patrol dashboard camera — will receive a $158,000 settlement. The motorist said he was weaving because he was in diabetic shock. Police found a vial of insulin in his pocket. The settlement amount was blessed by the city attorney then approved by the Henderson City Council tonight.

FORT LAUDERDALE— Tania Ouaknine is convinced the police are watching her. She's not paranoid — it says as much on the red sign painted along the side on the hulking armored truck that's been parked in front of her eight-room Parisian Motel for several days. "Warning: You are under video surveillance," reads the bold message on the side of the truck. From the front bumper of the menacing vehicle, another sign taunts: "Whatcha gonna do when we come for you?"

A New Mexico man who said he was forced to pull his own tooth while in solitary confinement because he was denied access to a dentist has been awarded $22 million due to inhumane treatment by New Mexico's Dona Ana County Jail. Stephen Slevin was arrested in August of 2005 for driving while intoxicated, then thrown in jail for two years. He was in solitary at Dona Ana County Jail for his entire sentence and basically forgotten about and never given a trial, he told NBC station KOB.com Tuesday night. "'[Jail guards were] walking by me every day, watching me...

The Federal Criminal Appeals blog reports on a decision from the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals regarding when the government can use drug possession as an excuse to deny weapons-possession rights. In short, it can't just assert that there is a good reason to bar drug users from guns: it has to try to prove it. But the Court also seems to think such proof won't be too hard. Let's take a walk through the decision to see what happened and why the Fourth Circuit decided as it did: Following a police search that uncovered marijuana and firearms in Benjamin...
  • State to pay acquitted man $123,00 for gun-related assault trial [WA]

The state will pay a Longview man nearly $123,000 almost exactly two years after he was acquitted of assault after waving a gun at employees of a downtown Longview nightclub. Most of the money will go to his lawyers. The State of Washington must pay Brian Barnd-Spjut's attorney's fees, appeals costs, lost wages and other expenses. The payments will be made under a state law that reimburses defendants for trial-related expenses if a jury finds they acted in self defense. Barnd-Spjut was on trial in January 2010 for four counts of assault after he pulled the gun in an alley...
  • Justice Dept. Drops Doolittle Charges After 6.5 Years of Limbo (what RINO's do to conservatives)

A Justice Department corruption investigation that helped drive John Doolittle from office has now been closed without charges being filed, the former Sacramento, Calif.-area congressman said Friday. "I'm thrilled," Doolittle said in an interview. "They've dragged this thing out for six and a half years." Doolittle's relief, though, is tinged with bitterness at how he believes the Justice Department has mistreated him. He says he accumulated $600,000 in attorneys fees, some of which he was able to pay with campaign funds. The lingering investigation hindered his ability to find work. In the beginning, he said, it proved "very devastating" to...

Fighting For Justice For Slain Officer Faulkner (CBS 3) PHILADELPHIA Twenty five years ago Saturday, Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner was murdered on a Center City street. On Friday, his widow and 500 supporters are vowing to keep his convicted killer behind bars. At the same time, those who support Mumia Abu-Jamal say he was unjustly convicted. 25 years after Officer Daniel Faulkner was murdered, friends hugged and comforted his widow, much the way they did that freezing December morning in 1981 when he was gunned down near 13th and Locust streets. For Maureen Faulkner, so much, yet so little...

While Americans celebrate Thanksgiving tomorrow, Saudi Arabians already had theirs over the weekend. Tomorrow, we eat turkey. Over the weekend, the Saudis had us begging to eat crow over a man named Turki. Apologize for the American justice system and virtually everything else that America stands for. Suthers went to Saudi Arabia to apologize for the conviction of Homaidan Al-Turki. William J. Hetherington has been incarcerated in Michigan prisons for more than 20 years for having sex with his wife Linda. In 1986, he became the first man in Genesee County convicted of the new Michigan crime called spousal rape. Linda was not a battered wife; she testified at the trial that he had never beaten her in their 16 years of marriage. Hetherington was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force, received a National Defense Service Medal, and had no police record of any sort. The sentencing guideline for this new offense was 12 months to 10 years but,...
