A gas station-style forecourt isn't necessarily the best option I’ve always been of the opinion that you should bring EV chargers to the people, rather than asking people to come to the chargers. But admittedly charging hubs aren’t very common, and until very recently they were all too far away to experience first hand. But at the tail end of last year, Shell opened up its first EV charging hub in Fulham, in West London. It’s still pretty out of the way for me, and the trip involves driving into the heart of the U.K.’s busiest city from nearby Reading....

Practicality may not be something shooters think about all the time; if that was the case, .50-cal rifles would be a lot less popular on the civilian market . However, while we may look at some guns and think, “Now why would anyone need THAT?” chances are the Herculean handgun that looks like it was hauled in by a flatbed trailer doesn’t hold a candle to some of the most impractical handguns in history. Whether they were too costly to make or just plain ineffective, here are eight of the most impractical handguns in history.

Wracked by debt but blessed with abundant sunshine, Greece plans to develop some 20,000 hectares of solar power parks in a bid to export renewable energy to Germany, a report said on Saturday. Top-selling Ta Nea daily said the project, which has a tentative budget of 20 billion euros ($29 billion), could create 60,000 jobs at a time when Greece is battling a deep recession and record unemployment figures. Germany is looking for alternative energy sources after chancellor Angela Merkel's government decided to shut down all 17 of the country's nuclear reactors over 11 years, following the disaster at the...
  • CA: Internet tax police? Be wary of state board's impractical plan (to track "use tax" avoidance)

The Board of Equalization – which oversees collection of many state taxes – is one of the least-known important state agencies. But if the board gets its way, it could soon be both high profile and highly unpopular. That's because it wants the Legislature and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to give it a staggering number of new employees – 325 – over the next three years to serve as tax detectives hunting down the businesses and individuals who buy goods on the Internet but fail to pay the state's “use tax.” What's that? You weren't aware that you owed the state...
