In a very one-sided recent article for the New York Times Magazine, Adam Davidson tries to make the case for massive increases in immigration. He starts out by dicussing the racial prejudice of an older relative who always thought that Hispanics “were stealing jobs.” Davidson believes this man’s story is illustrative of the current debate over immigration. Nothing delegitimizes someone in modern America more than the suggestion, or even the hint, that they hold unenlightened attitudes about race. It is not surprising that an advocate of high immigration would suggest that those with whom he disagree are racists. But...

Earlier today, MSNBC published a story suggesting Senator Cruz supports legalization of undocumented individuals currently in the United States. Derived from the fact that Senator Cruz hasn’t specifically stated he does not support legalization of undocumented individuals, the inference is that Cruz must therefore support legalization of undocumented individuals. It’s a nice little semantic game, really. MSNBC referenced a Texas Tribune article from 2013 which they claim indicates, “that he [Cruz] supported giving some undocumented immigrants permission to stay in the country with more limited legal status.” This summation is not accurate. Illinois had the biggest decrease in population according to a new report from the Census Bureau. Between July 1, 2013 to July 1, 2014, the state lost 9,972 people. On the other end, Texas saw the largest population increase adding more than 450,000 people during that time. Cook County saw a very slight decrease in population. It’s one of four counties with a population of more than 1 million to experience a decrease. The two-term governor has consistently opposed what he calls "amnesty" for immigrants in the country illegally, but his definition of amnesty has evolved. The man who murdered four people in North Carolina, including a former contestant on “America’s Next Top Model”. Senators Thom Tillis and Chuck Grassley, confirmed that accused murderer, Emmanuel Jesus Rangel-Hernandez, was a known gang member and had been arrested on a marijuana possession charge. They also confirmed that in 2012 when Obama enacted his DACA program, the immigration service halted his deportation. Washington DC - The federal government said the number of undocumented immigrants failing to appear at deportation hearings is on the rise. According to the Executive Office of Immigration Review, the number of people who did not show after being released on bond or on their own recognizance grew by 153 percent in the last four years. Immigration judges ordered deportations for those no-shows. About 30 to 40 percent of undocumented immigrants failed to appear at their hearings last year. US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced that during 2014 it released another 30,000 illegal aliens with criminal records. This follows the 36,000 it released in 2013. The crimes for which these persons were responsible include homicide, sexual assault, kidnapping, aggravated assault and more than 16,000 incidents of drunk or drugged driving. The released individuals are now free to move about the country. Border Patrol agents gave eye-opening testimony on Capitol Hill last week, saying that they “face retribution” for reporting large groups of illegal immigrants. “Management will either take them out of the field and assign them to processing detainees at the station or assign them to a fixed position in low volume areas as a punishment,” border agent Chris Cabrera said before the Senate Homeland Security Committee on Tuesday. The other day I received a letter from the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) instructing me to renew my driver’s license in person. The letter stated I was required to take a vision test and a new photo. The letter also provided me with a phone number to schedule an appointment. When I called the number, the representative told me that the next available appointment to visit my local DMV was 8 weeks later, well beyond the expiration date of my driver’s license. I think opponents of Jeb Bush should work out some figure they can throw around that is realistic. From July 2016 - January 2017 maybe 100000, 200000, 500000 or maybe 1 million illegals will cross the border if Jeb wins the nomination. Maybe only 50,000. Probably a worse message than Clinton winning the general, because it is already established the Dem candidate will be open borders and that there is no opposition anywhere to it.

This reporter apparently thinks it is “racist” for people to think we should protect our border. Thankfully, this man wasn’t willing to be accused of something as vile as being a racist.
