Amber Guyger, the ex-Dallas cop who was convicted in October of murdering her unarmed black neighbor, Botham Jean, is appealing her ten-year prison sentence. Guyger has claimed she fired in self-defense in 2018, when she pushed open door to Jean’s apartment — one floor above her own — in the mistaken belief it was her own. An off-duty Secret Service agent fatally shot a dog that charged at him in Brooklyn on Monday night, police said. The agent fired one shot at the dog, striking the animal, on Caton Place near East 8th Street in Windsor Terrace about 9:45 p.m., cops said. Police said the agent saw the dog coming at him as he turned a corner.
