The House of Representatives will vote today, Tuesday, at 5 pm on whether to hold former head of tax exempt groups at the IRS Lois Lerner in contempt of Congress. Lerner was voted in contempt by the House Oversight Committee back in April after failing to answer questions from lawmakers. Many argue Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights last year because she made an opening statement declaring her innocence before claiming she wanted to remain silent.

BEAVER, Pa. – A widow was given ample notice before her $280,000 house was sold at a tax auction three years ago over $6.30 in unpaid interest, a Pennsylvania judge has ruled. The decision last week turned down Eileen Battisti's request to reverse the September 2011 sale of her home outside Aliquippa in western Pennsylvania. "I paid everything, and didn't know about the $6.30," Battisti said. "For the house to be sold just because of $6.30 is crazy."

A House Democrat who voted against ObamaCare said the law is likely to sweep Republicans into office in November. Rep. Stephen Lynch (D-Mass.) had dire predictions for his party during a radio interview on Thursday. "We will lose seats in the House," Lynch told Boston Herald Radio. "I am fairly certain of that based on the poll numbers that are coming out from more experienced poll sets down there." He continued, "And I think we may lose the Senate. I think that's a possibility ... primarily because of healthcare." The comments pit Lynch against party chiefs like Rep. Nancy Pelosi...

WASHINGTON—Speaker John Boehner and other senior House Republicans are telling donors and industry groups that they aim to pass immigration legislation this year, despite the reluctance of many Republicans to tackle the divisive issue before the November elections. Many lawmakers and activists have assumed the issue was off the table in an election year. But Mr. Boehner said at a Las Vegas fundraiser last month he was "hellbent on getting this done this year," according to two people in the room. A spokesman for Mr. Boehner didn't dispute the account but said no action is possible until President Barack Obama...

My youngest is getting married in less than two months. Although we are deep in the midst of wedding plans and to-do lists, she still manages to spend a good chunk of time every day dreaming about her first home with her soon-to-be hubby. How will they decorate? How will they use their budget? How will they entertain guests? She is incredibly enthusiastic about it, too. You would think the endless list of things to think about would be exhausting, but instead, the wealth of possibilities gives her loads of energy. I think there is something important to learn from...

The Cummings/Issa feud is the showdown that keeps on giving. Democrats faced off with Republicans on the House floor, protesting GOP Rep. Darrell Issa's diss of Democrat Rep. Elijah Cummings last week. Cummings' colleagues stood on the House floor on Thursday, holding up tablets, iPhones and iPads with screen showing images of Issa shutting down Cummings during a committee hearing a week ago. But the show of solidarity was closed down, with the presiding officer, Rep. Mike Simpson (R-Idaho), deeming the display of electronic devices a violation of house rules.

The Republican-run House of Representatives on Friday approved a bipartisan deal to spare doctors from a looming Medicare pay cut but included a provision to undermine Obamacare, which critics said was a non-starter in the Democratic-controlled Senate. The vote was 238-181, with most House Democrats refusing to swallow what they called an Obamacare “poison pill,” a provision to delay for five years the tax penalty that most Americans must pay under President Barack Obama’s healthcare law if they decline to sign up for insurance. **SNIP** Hundreds of thousands of doctors who participate in traditional Medicare face a 24 percent pay...

McMorris Rodgers: ‘He may have his pen and his phone, but we have the Constitution’ House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (Wash.) and Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R., Calif.) laid out their plans to counter President Barack Obama’s executive overreach, in a conference call Thursday. The House will continue its efforts to push back against the “imperial presidency” next week, by voting on additional legislation that would allow Congress to challenge executive moves in federal court. “Clearly President Obama has taken the über presidency to a whole new level,” McMorris Rodgers said. “While it’s not...

When Jennifer Garner told a Detroit radio station that she and her husband Ben Affleck would spend the summer in Detroit while Affleck was working on the Batman-Superman blockbuster, it made national news. MLive gushed: "If you love trying to track down celebrities in Detroit, then you'll want to be on the lookout in the coming months for one of Hollywood's biggest power couples." What wasn't reported is that Michigan taxpayers could pay part of the rent for the Hollywood power couple's stay in the state. Affleck has made $10 million or more eight times for acting in a movie,...

**SNIP** Democrats were also pleased by Obama’s executive order raising the minimum wage for several hundred thousand federal workers, which plays into their drive to raise the wage nationally to $10.10 per hour. House Republicans are opposed to such a move. And Pelosi and her top lieutenants — many of whom played big roles in the 2010 passage of the Affordable Care Act — were very happy to hear that more one million Americans had signed up for state and federal health exchanges during January, bringing the total Obamacare sign ups to 3.3 million. So while most House Republicans believe...

Proponents of the rule of law and advocates of American exceptionalism have complied a list of 80 Members of Congress who have not committed to oppose amnesty. The only way to get them to oppose amnesty or "legal status" for illegal aliens is to contact them and demand they back the rule of law and oppose the so-called immigration "reform" principles floated at the recent Republican retreat. To assist you in this effort, you can sign our letter to Congress or copy the letter and click the link to your Representative's "contact me" page (see the list below) to paste it...

If you're unlucky enough to be stricken with a rare medical condition, you'd better hope your doctor watches the right television show. That was the lesson for one German man with severe heart failure and a puzzling mix of symptoms including fever, near blindness, near deafness, reflux and enlarged lymph nodes, which baffled doctors for months. All of the symptoms had appeared in the last year, after the man underwent a hip replacement to replace a faulty ceramic hip. The 55-year-old man was diagnosed only when he was referred to Dr. Juergen Schaefer, a fan of the U.S. television medical...
