Protestors from a Kansas church known for picketing soldiers' funerals failed to show Monday afternoon at rites in Cleveland for Sgt. David Weir, who was killed in Iraq. But about 70 members of the Patriot Guard motorcycle corps did - along with many other local flagwavers. Bradley County authorities had a spot marked off for the protestors. It was in a field across from Fike Funeral Home - 300 feet away. The field stayed empty as the private funeral services went on inside the funeral home. The body was taken afterwards to the National Cemetery in Chattanooga for burial. There...

Sen. Dick Durbin, an Illinois Democrat, took the Senate floor yesterday and likened American servicemen to Nazis: On a couple of occasions, I entered interview rooms to find a detainee chained hand and foot in a fetal position to the floor, with no chair, food or water. Most times they urinated or defecated on themselves, and had been left there for 18-24 hours or more. On one occasion, the air conditioning had been turned down so far and the temperature was so cold in the room, that the barefooted detainee was shaking with cold. . . . On another occasion,...
  • Another "Reagan Going to Hell" fetid pile -- cartoon by Lefty Lalo

There was an earlier thread showing "protestors" with signs about Reagan being in Hell. It turns out it wasn't the kooky lefites, but it was a goofy gadfly group that is not left wing -- just nutty. But, here is a liberal cartoonist of some renown putting it forth.

Did anyone just see the Saturday Night Live cartoon ragging on The Passion of the Christ? They had it as "The Passion of the Dumpty" as in Humpty Dumpty. Showing a fried egg as the last supper and going to heaven and making fun of the imgage of Christ dying on the cross. I have never felt more insulted than I do right now as a Catholic. Plus they had Bush smear commercials in between the skits and painted Mel Gibson to be insane.

[ResisterSister added bold highlights] CANTON -- Nearly 200 area people stood in front of the McKinley Center for a peace rally that evolved into more of an anti-Republican campaign. The war protest in the 800 block of Market Avenue N allowed area residents to join millions of other people around the globe protesting the U.S. war with Iraq. Jeff Seemann of the Canton Anti-War Association, which sponsored the event, announced: “There’s a million people in Rome right now.” Cheers rose from a sea of signs sporting slogans: Who would Jesus bomb; No blood for oil; Love, not war; Obey the...
