Rather, whose contract expires at the end of this year, had hoped to finish his career as a full-time correspondent at "60 Minutes." "But it doesn't seem like [CBS] wants him there" now, says an industry insider.

The board of education passed a new bus policy Monday night which eliminates bus service for students living within a half mile of the elementary school, within one mile of the middle school and one-and-a-half miles from the high school. Once again, the changes will take effect next year.
