Speaker of the House John Boehner stunned audience members Wednesday evening at a Colorado fundraiser by referring to Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz as a “jackass,” two people in attendance tell The Daily Caller. At a Steamboat Springs event for GOP Rep. Scott Tipton, the Ohio Republican quipped that he likes how Cruz’s presidential campaign keeps “that jackass” out of Washington, and from telling Boehner how to do his job.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – State officials have launched Pennsylvania’s online voter registration system. The online registration application, hosted by the Department of State, is available for use by eligible citizens at register.votesPA.com. The new site also allows registered voters to easily update their voter record with a change of name, address or party affiliation, and voters may use the site to ask for help at their polling place. Governor Tom Wolf, who promised online registration when he ran for the office last year, said it will make the voting experience more convenient and accessible.

  • The Contentless “Conservative” Opposition to Patent Reform

What do you call someone who supports Federal bureaucrats granting rights out of thin air, judges legislating from the bench about how those rights work, and spreads terror about technological progress (along with derogatory comparisons to Uber)? Sadly, some people seem to think you should call them “conservatives.” At least, that’s the only thing I can get out of looking at the so-called conservative opposition to patent reform, which just this week added yet more confusion to the debate when a group calling itself the Conservative Action Project put out a letter slamming the two major patent reform bills making...
  • Amputees decry Medicare payment overhaul for artificial feet

    AP News via Townhall.com ^ | August 27, 2015
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration is trying to disentangle itself from another controversy over Medicare coverage. Amputees are protesting this time, fearing they'll be denied the latest technology for artificial legs and feet. Medicare spending for those items soared in the last 10 years, even as the number of amputees declined because of improved diabetes care. That prompted scrutiny from government investigators. Recently, Medicare's billing contractors proposed closer medical supervision of the independent technicians who sell and fit artificial limbs, as well as tighter rules for patients to qualify for high-tech devices that can cost as much as a...

FULL TITLE: 'It's my hair, I swear!' Donald Trump invites woman onstage to perform head 'inspection' to prove he doesn't wear a toupée Donald Trump invited a woman on stage to publicly inspect his hair in an attempt to prove that he doesn't wear a toupée. The presidential candidate paused a campaign stop in Greenville, South Carolina, to invite an audience member on stage to run her hand through his much-discussed hairdo. He stopped partway through speaking to the crowd on Thursday to pluck the woman from the audience and have her touch his head - which she did with...

Michael Dodds, a former top-level administrator who oversaw several Columbus City Schools buildings, will report to jail today to start serving a 14 day sentence for his role in manipulating student data to make the district look better. Dodds pleaded no contest in June and was convicted on three felony charges: attempted tampering with government records and two counts of unauthorized use of property. Today, Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Kimberly Cocroft sentenced Dodds to a jail term of one day less than that received by Stephen B. Tankovich, the former district administrator who masterminded the data purging, received for...

It’s “No lemonade for you!” in East Hampton, where a sourpuss neighbor put the squeeze on the drink stand Jerry Seinfeld and his family had set up for charity, resulting in this goofy “arrest.” The roadside business was selling cold drinks on hot days to benefit the group Baby Buggy, before it was shut down for violating a village prohibition on peddling. “Lemonade dreams crushed by local neighbor but not before raising lots of money for @loverecycled. Thanks to all of our customers and big tippers!” Seinfeld’s wife, Jessica, wrote on Instagram. An accompanying photo shows Jerry, son Julian and...

Representatives attending the UN Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) in Mexico this week have set up a structure for future conferences on gun control that include a veto-proof decision making process. According to Reuters, representatives from 130 countries gathered in Mexico, although only 72 countries have fully ratified the treaty. They determined that Geneva will be “the seat of the permanent secretariat for the ATT” and they unanimously decided that unanimous agreements would not have to be reached on gun control decisions going forward. This gives the body a veto-proof process for making gun control decisions going forward.

Lindsay Graham, as part of the taunt-war he’s having with Donald Trump, says that if Trump wins the GOP nomination, it will mean the end of the Republican Party. He’s right, but Trump means the end of the Republican Party even if he doesn’t get the nomination. I wrote a few weeks ago that Trump represents the Jump the Shark moment of the party. The GOP has been a rickety, unsustainable contraption of policy prescriptions that don’t add up, don’t really represent the coalition’s actual members, and is based on a backward-looking set of views appealing to an ever-shrinking demographic....

"Reagan often broke with free-trade dogma. He arranged for voluntary restraint agreements to limit imports of automobiles and steel (an industry whose interests, by the way, I have represented). He provided temporary import relief for Harley-Davidson. He limited imports of sugar and textiles. His administration pushed for the "Plaza accord" of 1985, an agreement that made Japanese imports more expensive by raising the value of the yen."

  • 14th Amendment Does NOT Give Citizenship to Aliens Born in the United States.

Based on Senate Hearings on proposing the 14th Amendment | 8-27-2015 | Dangus
The chattering class insists that the 14th amendment automatically grants citizenship to children of illegal aliens. They do this by relying on the public's ignorance of the 14th amendment and the obscurity of the meaning of "under the jurisdiction thereof. The author of the 14th amendment was very clear when he proposed it, however: "This amendment, which I have offered is simply declaratory ... that every person born within the United States, and subject to their jurisdiction is by virtue of natural law and national law a citizen of the United States. This will not of course include persons born...

When insurance companies began discussing the necessary premium hikes for the third year of ObamaCare coverage, the White House was quick to dismiss the requests. State auditors would surely force insurers to admit that these requests were overblown. Barack Obama himself told a Nashville audience last month that he couldn’t see why insurers needed to hike premiums by more than a third in Tennessee, the Wall Street Journal recalls: At a July town hall in Nashville, Tenn., President Barack Obama played down fears of a spike in health insurance premiums in his signature health law’s third year.“My expectation is...

That’s a big jump from last month’s initial estimate of 2.3%, and an even larger leap from the 0.6% GDP growth rate in Q1. A 3.7% annualized Q2 growth rate follows the same pattern of last year, when a negative Q1 led to a robust Q2 — but that ended in stagnation-level growth the rest of the year, and another wan economic annum overall. The Commerce Department credits the bump to a better mix on exports and imports and continued consumer confidence: Real gross domestic product — the value of the goods and services produced by the nation’s economy...

Frontpage Magazine has published a bombshell report that has been met with total silence by the media.  Daniel Greenfield’s piece is entitled “Traitor Senators Took Money from Iran Lobby, Back Iran Nukes.” Our politicians bought by Iran don’t just include a list of Senators and Congressmen about to vote on the Iran Deal.  Recipients of Iran’s largess for their campaigns include President Obama, Joe Biden, John Kerry and Hillary Clinton. Both of Obama’s secretaries of state were involved in Iran Lobby cash controversies, as was his vice president and his former secretary of defense. Obama was also the beneficiary...
