Former Republican Virginia Congressman Virgil Goode endorsed Donald Trump for president earlier this month and The Daily Caller caught up with the ex-representative to find out why he feels the flamboyant billionaire is the best choice for the White House. "The primary reason is his good positions opposing illegal immigration and reducing legal immigration," Goode told TheDC. "Mr. Trump understands how important that is to stopping the constant flow of illegals across the border. He also wants to mandate e-verify which would help keeping illegals from getting U.S. jobs." While in Congress, Goode was a strong proponent of border security...

Former congressman Virgil Goode Jr. will remain on Virginia’s presidential ballot after state Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli II concluded an investigation into fraud allegations leveled at Goode by the state Republican Party. Cuccinelli found, according to a news release from his office, that “while there may have been certain irregularities, nothing he examined would prevent Goode from being certified for the Virginia ballot in the upcoming November presidential election.” Goode represented southwest Virginia in the state Senate and then in Congress for a combined 36 years, as a Democrat, an Independent and then a Republican. Now he is running for...

Former congressman Virgil Goode Jr. has qualified for the presidential ballot in Virginia, the State Board of Elections ruled Tuesday, adding a potential obstacle to Republican Mitt Romney’s hopes of winning the pivotal state. The state Republican party has already challenged the eligibility of Goode, who is the Constitution Party’s nominee, and could still get him knocked off the ballot.

...Virgil Goode has long supported a bill to audit the Federal Reserve, which recently cleared the House. He advocates “currency that is real and backed by gold or silver.” Goode champions “fair and equitable opportunity, but it’s up to you to use it. Government cannot ensure equal results because every individual differs;” An ardent proponent of balancing the budget, our deficits Goode insists, stem from “spending.” “Taxes should be simple and fair … I’m not for increasing income taxes; if we even have an income tax.” The candidate laments “too much federal involvement in our lives” offering as an example...

August 16, 2012 Dear Friends, the Republican State Committee sent us an urgent letter requesting assistance. The American Independent Party of California, in convention, nominated me today for the office of President of the United States. This gives us the 2012 presidential ballot line. My thanks to all who participated in the process, and to presidential candidates Wiley Drake and Virgil Goode, both of whom were present and who graciously released their delegates in order to make the final vote a unanimous one. We'll be commenting extensively in the days ahead on the events of today and the important ramifications of this nomination. It's time for pro-life, pro-liberty, pro-Constitution Reagan conservatives to once again have representation...

Constitution Party presidential candidate Virgil Goode said Tuesday he does not know why the Virginia State Board of Elections is asking for a probe into matters pertaining to his campaign. State officials are keeping quiet on the investigation request. The elections board on Monday voted unanimously to ask Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli to probe “suspected petition fraud” on forms that the Constitution Party submitted in efforts to get Goode’s name on the ballot for the Nov. 6 presidential election. In a phone interview, Goode said nobody from either the elections board or the attorney general’s office has contacted him,...

A spokesperson for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has advised that the former Massachusetts governor disagrees with the Boy Scout’s current policy prohibiting open homosexuals from serving as members and leaders. According to The Associated Press, Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul told the news outlet in an email that Romney still stands by his beliefs that homosexual men should be able to serve in the organization. She specifically noted that Romney had outlined his views in 1994 during a political debate, and that his stance has not changed. “I support the right of the Boy Scouts of America to decide what...

Anyone who visits this website, with any amount of frequency, has seen Posts and comments re: the candidacy of Virgil Goode for President on the Constitution Party ticket. I agree that the Constitution Party is AWESOME!!!! I wish they were a Major Party. After 2012, I'd love to see a movement, by Conservatives, to make that their "Party of choice". But, I don't see that happening before November 6, 2012. Now, my poll question for ALL FReepers is this: Do you think that Virgil Goode will pull enough votes from Romney in the Battleground States such as FL, VA, OH,...

Ben Tribbett, one of the state's top bloggers, got me thinking yesterday. He is known as the guy behind the highly rated political blog Not Larry Sabato. But Ben deserves to be even better known as one of the state's best gurus on election statistics down to the precinct level. Ben has done a lot of mentally "running the numbers" on the potential impact of former Congressman Virgil Goode's run for President as the nominee for the Constitution Party here in Virginia. Ben is likely - and hopefully soon - to do a blog post an Obama-Romney-Goode race here in...

While many on the right fear that Constitution Party presidential candidate Virgil Goode might just draw enough votes in his native Virginia to tip the Old Dominion’s 14 electoral votes from Mitt Romney to Barack Obama, the former six-term congressman made it clear he doesn’t care. Goode, in fact, feels that “in many ways, for conservatives, it might be better to have Obama as president next year rather than Romney.” The 65-year-old Goode spoke to Human Events last week as he and his supporters were in the process of gathering the 10,000 signatures they need to submit before the Aug....
