President Obama sent a tweet touting the benefits for his signature federal health care law and, along with first lady Michelle Obama, wished a "speedy recovery" to former first lady Barbara Bush today. Then, the president went golfing at the Mid-Pacific Country Club in Lanikai. [snip] Obama's first putt came within a foot of the hole and he was given a gimme, scoring a two-putt. The president waved to the crowd and said, "Happy new year." Someone in the crowd shouted, "We love you!" And he replied, "I love you back." The group spend a little over five hours on...

Utility crews from Maine to Michigan and into Canada worked Wednesday to restore power to hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses left in the dark by last weekend's ice storm, and people slowly trickled out of shelters to spend Christmas Day at their finally warm homes. But not everyone was so lucky, including Ashley Walter, who was forced to spend Christmas at a shelter in a school in Litchfield with her husband, Jacob Walter, and their month-old daughter, Leah. The family lost power on Saturday, got it back and then lost it again Sunday. Ashley Walter and Leah stay...

President Barack Obama is golfing on his first day of vacation. Obama, typically an early riser, got a late start, staying at the home until early afternoon, when he headed to the golf course at a nearby Marine Corps base. Joining Obama for the round of golf were Sam Kass, the White House chef; Marvin Nicholson, Obama's trip director and a frequent golf partner; and childhood friend Bobby Titcomb, the White House said. The presidential motorcade left his Kailua vacation home and arrived at Marine Corps Base Hawaii at about 1:10 p.m. Obama, in white golf shirt, hat and sunglasses,...

Robert “Bobby” Titcomb was one of four men arrested in an undercover sting operation late Monday and later released on $500 bail, according to Honolulu police. Titcomb, 49, attended Punahou School in Honolulu with Obama in the 1970s. The president graduated in 1979, a year before Titcomb. The two often golf, play basketball, go to the beach and dine together when the president returns home to Hawaii for vacation. An appreciation for Glenn Beck, Ted Cruz and a well-known Bible verse appears to be the main reasons an aspiring professional golfer was abruptly cut off from his main source of income by his sponsor. The golfer’s name is Jeff Cochran and until a few weeks ago, it appeared that he may have finally gotten the big break that would help him achieve his goal of having a shot to play on golf’s elite PGA tour. Cochran was contracted in January by Virginia-based businessman Brian McMahon to help promote Nebraska Golf Card (NGC), a budding promotional operation that says it’s...

Australian golfer Jason Day will tee off at the World Cup at Royal Melbourne this week after learning that eight relatives died when Super Typhoon Haiyan smashed into the Philippines. The world number 20, who will partner Adam Scott as they attempt to wrest the trophy from the United States, lost his grandmother, an uncle and six cousins, his mother Dening told Monday’s Gold Coast Bulletin. “My daughter has been updating him but I don’t want to bother him because he has commitments,” she said. “There will be plenty of time to talk after (the World Cup). He’s representing his...

You know that smiling woman who was featured on the home page of Healthcare.gov? She asked for her picture to be removed after she was cyber-bullied. She's hiding where nobody can see her — at Healthcare.gov. ~ Conan It turns out that a lot of children could lose their dental insurance under Obamacare. So kids might not be able to go to the dentist. Parents were really upset, while kids said, “Four more years! Four more years!” ~ Fallon According to a new report, over a million Californians are losing their health insurance due to Obamacare. In fact, some...

Thanks to pjmedia.com we have this comment on King Barack’s latest healthcare edit. It comes from David Oscar, the communications chair for the New Jersey Association of Health Underwriters and a partner at Altigro Financial Group. He had this to say regarding Obama’s scheme to trick low information voters with a one-year restoration of canceled plans: “I do not know how the insurance carriers and federal government are going to be dealing with this. First, many states require a 60-day notice of a change in plan or a cancellation. It’s November 15! How can they comply with this new element...

What is this horrid government shutdown I keep reading about? It isn’t for Federal employees, since the House passed legislation paying all non-essential Federal employees that were furloughed for their missed time. (If President Obama signs it, that is). Stated differently. Non-essential Federal employees received a taxpayer-funded vacation. The government shutdown is a way for the Administration and Senate to punish Americans for Republicans not rubber-stamping the funding of Obamacare. At least the Administration should exempt everyone or no one. John Nolte has created a list of unnecessary shutdowns. 1. Treatments for Children Suffering From Cancer – The GOP have...

What they say is that the golf course is paid for by private funds. But the WWII Memorial was paid for by private funds. They claimed that the need to protect federal lands required barrycading it nevertheless.

One of Obama's preferred golf courses, the course on Andrews Airforce Base remains open during the government shutdown. The grocery stores on the base, where troops get discounted groceries for their families are, however, closed. They will shop "at local stores that cost about 30 percent more, Lieutenant General Raymond Mason, the service’s deputy chief of staff for logistics, said yesterday at a House hearing."

President Obama has been playing golf at a furious pace this year – already heading out more times than during any year of his presidency – but the government shutdown raises the prospect that his favorite leisure activity is about to be suspended. It’s unclear how a presidential golf outing could be justified as “essential,” which is the general standard for government activities that continue during the shutdown. When Obama is in Washington, he plays at one of two publicly funded courses – either the links at Andrews Air Force Base or at Fort Belvoir. His rounds are paid for...
