OBERLIN — Four young men were wounded and the man suspected of shooting them is in custody after an argument around 11:30 p.m. Thursday in a parking lot on West College Street, according to police and witnesses. The alleged gang rape of an 11-year-old girl by at least 18 boys and young men has sparked shame and outrage in a tiny Texas town, but it has also stirred racial tensions that threaten to split the East Texas hamlet. All of the defendants arrested are African-American and the girl is Hispanic. ...In a town this small, everyone is a neighbor, but that small town ambience is being severely strained.

Kenner Police have arrested a second suspect in the alleged gang rape of a 14-year-old girl. Isaac Toriano, 18, 1745 42nd St., Kenner, was booked with aggravated rape, according to an arrest report. Toriano and two other teens are accused of raping an unidentified girl in the closet of a Kenner home on Nov. 24. Kenner police arrested Gary Washington, 19, on Feb. 21 and booked him with the same charge. Investigators have said the third suspect, a 15-year-old boy, does not live in Louisiana. They are working on procedures to extradite him to back to Kenner.

MORELOS, Mexico — A 13-year-old Mexican drug cartel hitman was found dead along with five other people. Univision reports that Jorge Armando Moreno’s body showed signs of torture when he was found near the town of Morelos. Moreno — who was a member of the Los Zetas gang — was arrested earlier this month, along with 15 other suspects, and confessed to taking part in 10 executions. He was released into his family’s custody because he was too young to be criminally prosecuted. Zacatecas state law says no one under the age of 14 can be subject to criminal prosecution....

<p>BURLINGTON, N.C. (AP) — Police in Burlington say a deaf man was stabbed several times after his sign language was mistaken for gang signs by another man.</p> <p>Sgt. Mark Yancey said 45-year-old Terrance Ervin Daniels was using sign language with another deaf man. A third person saw them, thought they were flashing gang signs and stabbed Daniels several times with a kitchen knife. A neighbor saw the victim and called emergency personnel.</p>

BURLINGTON - A deaf man was stabbed several times Wednesday after another man mistook sign language for gang signs, according to police. The victim was walking down East Morehead Street at 5:10 p.m., using sign language with another man who was also deaf, said Burlington police staff Sgt. Mark Yancey.

ST. LOUIS • A St. Louis teen who authorities say is a member of a gang called the "Obama Boyz" has been charged with two shootings on Saturday. Anthony Jamal Lee, 18, fired at a group of people from the window of a Grand Prix at 2:17 p.m., according to charges. A 13-year-old boy was struck in the side of his body and had to be hospitalized; a 17-year-old boy was grazed by bullets on his face and arm.

RICHMOND, Va. -- Police were searching this morning for a group of about 15 young men believed to have committed an assault and a violent robbery in rapid succession on Virginia Commonwealth University's main academic campus in downtown Richmond. Neither victim was seriously injured in the two attacks, which occurred along Shafer Street on the Monroe Park campus about 2:55 a.m. VCU and Richmond police described the assailants as a group of 15 black males between the ages of 17 and 22.

More than $840,000 was awarded Monday to 96 victims of illegal searches, seizures and use of excessive force by the now-defunct Metro Gang Strike Force, including a dozen juveniles who were targeted by a Brooklyn Park police officer. Delfino Mora was found unconscious in an alley in Chicago, Illinois, last Tuesday morning. He died in hospital the next day as a result of blunt head trauma. Malik Jones, 16, Nicholas Ayala, 17, and Anthony Malcolm, 18, have each been charged with first-degree murder and robbery.
