Former FBI director James Comey is under investigation for mishandling classified information, DOJ inspector general Michael Horowitz revealed Monday. He is specifically under investigation for his handling of memos he wrote about interactions with President Trump while FBI director. “Comey said he did not expect a report on his handling of classified information because, ‘That’s frivolous.’ I don’t happen to think that it is frivolous,” Sen. Chuck Grassley said during a Senate hearing Monday. “Question number one, Mr. Horowitz, are you investigating the handling of his memo and does that include the classification issues, and should Mr. Comey expect a...

The Southern Poverty Law Center has reached a settlement with liberal Islamic reformer Maajid Nawaz and his organization, the Quilliam Foundation, for wrongly including them on its now-defunct list of “anti-Muslim extremists.” The SPLC announced Monday that it has agreed to pay Nawaz and Quilliam $3.375 million “to fund their work to fight anti-Muslim bigotry and extremism.” The settlement was the result of a lawsuit Nawaz filed in April over his inclusion on the SPLC’s “Field Guide to Anti-Muslim Extremists.”......."

North Korean delegates at cross-border military talks in the truce village of Panmunjom last Thursday offered to move their long-range artillery pieces from the military demarcation line to rear areas, a source said Sunday. The Defense Ministry denied it, but the source said, "The North Korean delegates brought it up first as a matter of principle." This would go a long way toward reducing military tensions. It is not known why the North made the offer or what it expects in return. The North has deployed about 1,000 artillery guns near the MDL. Some 330 are trained on the Seoul...

President Trump challenged Democrats to “come to the table” to fix the country’s immigration system, saying Monday that the current battle is over whether the U.S. should have borders. Speaking at the White House Mr. Trump said the U.S. “will not be a migrant camp.” He said if Congress can find agreement on a way to update what he called the “worst immigration laws in the entire world” it could be a trendsetting move for the rest of the globe. “Just remember — a country without borders is not a country at all. We need borders, we need security, we...

Washington (AFP) - Donald Trump's personal lawyer on Sunday called for an investigation into special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe, claiming it was tainted from the outset under former FBI director James Comey. "We want the Mueller probe to be investigated the way the Trump administration has been investigated," Rudy Giuliani said on CNN's "State of the Union." "This is a case where it's crying out for someone to investigate the investigators," he later told CBS. Giuliani's comments were the latest in a barrage of attacks on the probe by the president and his lawyers as Mueller appears to be...

George P. Bush, son of Trump's former presidential candidate rival Jeb Bush, has voiced his support for the current president yet again in a rousing speech at the Texas Republican convention earlier today. As noted by Todd Gillman of the Dallas News, George P. rallied the Texas GOP by declaring. "Are we gonna stand up for President Donald J. Trump. Are we going to reject the fake news and the liberal media? … Yes we are." Bush is a formidable politician in the Lone Star state. He currently holds the position of Texas Land Commissioner. But, he has fallen under...

A man was taken into custody Friday after he barricaded himself inside a “homemade” armored vehicle near the Hoover Dam on U.S. Highway 93, investigators said. Officials received calls around 11:54 a.m. local time about a white man who had stopped on the highway near the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, which heads into Arizona, Jason Buratczuk from the Nevada Highway Patrol said at a news conference. Officials said the unidentified man was holed up in what looked to be a “homemade” armored vehicle and he appeared to have some kind of “long gun rifle” and signage. Authorities stopped traffic...

President Trump called the recent decision by a federal judge to jail his former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, until his trial in September “tough” and “very unfair,” suggesting there should instead be criminal punishments for former FBI Director James Comey and Hillary Clinton. “Wow, what a tough sentence for Paul Manafort, who has represented Ronald Reagan, Bob Dole and many other top political people and campaigns. Didn’t know Manafort was the head of the Mob. What about Comey and Crooked Hillary and all of the others? Very unfair!” Trump tweeted Friday. Manafort has not been convicted of a crime, nor...

Next week, the House of Representatives will consider two immigration bills, a bill sponsored by Rep. Goodlatte, R-Va., that conservatives are supporting and a more moderate bill with a special pathway to U.S. citizenship for DACA recipients. In an interview on “Fox & Friends” Friday morning, President Donald Trump announced that he will not sign a moderate immigration bill. @realDonaldTrump: "I need a bill that gives this country tremendous boarder security... we have to have the wall, if we don't have the wall there is no bill" Conservatives in the House Freedom Caucus have pressured House leadership for months to...

In one of his most forceful attacks on the special counsel yet, Rudy Giuliani on Friday claimed the Russia investigation could get “cleaned up” with pardons from President Trump in light Paul Manafort being sent to jail. “When the whole thing is over, things might get cleaned up with some presidential pardons,” the former New York mayor told the Daily News. Giuliani’s stunning remark came hours after a Washington, D.C., judge revoked Manafort’s bail and ordered him to remain behind bars while awaiting his September trial on charges relating to his shady pro-Russian business dealings in Ukraine. The ruling came...

Update: Paul Manafort is heading to jail, ahead of his trials for bank fraud and money laundering, Bloomberg News reports. A judge in Washington revoked Manafort’s bail Friday after being told by Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s lawyers that Manafort, Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman, attempted to tamper with witnesses for his trial. Manafort has "abused" the trust placed in him six months ago, the judge said. Previous report: Paul Manafort could be locked up as soon as Friday if a judge agrees with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s argument that he tried to tamper with witnesses while under house arrest. Manafort,...

The report says, “Comey, Baker, and other FBI witnesses told us that they believed the prosecutors were overly cautious about obtaining the laptops because they were intimidated by high-powered defense counsel like [Beth] Wilkinson.” The report also describes other FBI witnesses who made the same claim — including agents Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, whose text messages in the report revealed their political bias against Donald Trump becoming president. “Some FBI witnesses told us, consistent with text message exchanges between [Peter] Strzok and [Lisa] Page, that the FBI was concerned that the line [Network Security Division] prosecutors were intimidated by...

Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz, an Obama administration appointee, is scheduled to deliver a report this week on DOJ and FBI abuses during the 2016 campaign cycle. Remember: His last investigation of FBI misconduct advised a criminal referral for fired former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe, who allegedly lied to federal investigators. McCabe and at least a half-dozen other FBI employees quit, retired, were fired or were reassigned as a result of fallout from the politicization of the FBI. Yet, as Barack Obama left office, his chief of staff, Denis McDonough, strangely boasted that the Obama administration "has...
