SARASOTA - A 46-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an aggravated assault incident against U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris (R-Sarasota). The incident happened when Harris and several supporters were campaigning on the northwest corner of the intersection at Fruitville Road and North Washington Boulevard Tuesday evening, according to Sarasota police. A vehicle headed toward them and swerved at the last moment and drove off. The police got a good description of the car and the suspect was brought in for questioning before being arrested. Barry M. Fabiola Armitage is back on television, only instead of a campaign ad the focus has been on her mugshot. Armitage is a Kerry supporter and a strong believer in stem cell research. She's featured in an advertisement urging Floridians to vote against Amendment 3 on this year's ballot. The amendment would cap how much money a lawyer can make from a medical malpractice lawsuit. St. Johns County Sheriff Deputies arrested Armitage for grand theft and battery this week. They say she had 78 campaign signs supporting George Bush and Mel Martinez in her trunk. WFTS-TV Channel 28 in Tampa Bay reports that two Kerry supporters was arrested at a rally featuring John Edwards this afternoon. The arrests occured after a female Kerry supporter attempted to tear a sign away from a non-supporter at the rally. The second arrest resulted from a male memeber of the audience interfering with the arrest.
