Clay Travis on Monday shared the results of a weekend 'free beer' experiment, offering people free cans from a cooler at a concert in Nashville and concluding that people will actively avoid Bud Light. The OutKick founder posted on Twitter a video of a cooler filled with three different kinds of beer. He said he allowed passers by to 'pick which beer you want'. A later video showed the cooler again, now almost exclusively filled with Bud Light cans. Travis said people had avoided Bud Light all night and reflected that a 'big issue going forward for Bud Light is...

Construction kicked off Tuesday on a 19-story homeless housing project designed to reshape a corner of skid row in the image of more well-to-do environs. The metal-and-glass high-rise will “improve the neighborhood through architecture," Weingart Chief Executive Kevin Murray said in announcing the conceptual plan by Joseph Wong Design Associates in a 2017 interview. AXIS/GFA Architecture + Design is the project architect. “One of the things we asked the architect is we don’t want it to look like a housing project,” Murray, a former state senator, said “We want it to look like one of these other first-class downtown apartments.”...

While much speculation inside the Beltway says U.S. Attorney John Durham will punt the results of his so-called Spygate investigation past the election to avoid charges of political interference, sources who have worked with Durham on past public corruption cases doubt he'll bend to political pressure — and they expect him to drop bombshells before Labor Day. Durham’s boss, Attorney General Bill Barr, also pushed back on the notion his hand-picked investigator would defer action. Under Democratic questioning on Capitol Hill last week, he refused to rule out a pre-election release. "Under oath, do you commit to not releasing any...

White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows said Sunday that it's "time for people to go to jail" as part of U.S. Attorney John Durham's probe into FBI misconduct -- prompting ex-Trump aide George Papadopoulos to sound a celebratory note on Twitter.Meadows, during his Sunday interview with Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures," also previewed the Trump administration's soon-to-be-released plans for reopening schools and implementing new economic stimulus measures. More details, Meadows said, would be coming this week. However, Meadows' comments on the Durham probe were among his most suggestive yet. They followed Attorney General Bill Barr's comments to Fox News earlier this year...

The Justice for Mike Brown Ferguson protest group released its list of potential targets following the decision by the St. Louis County Courthouse on the Mike Brown case. The published map shows expected landmarks like the Ferguson City Hall and the County Courthouse. Pensioners protest as their allotment of 864 brews a year will be cut to nothing If you sang that well-worn campfire song about the beer bottles on the wall, you'd have to start at 864. That's the annual complimentary beer allotment for retirees from the Molson brewery in St. John's, Nfld., the same amount of free suds they received while still working. But, without consulting them, Molson has decided to shut the tap. Come Jan. 1, the allotment will be a dozen bottles a month, down from six dozen a month (or 72 dozen a year), and in five years,...

Free beer tastings may be on tap at California bars and restaurants thanks to a new law lifting a ban on suds samples. The law, one of several taking effect with the new year, was backed by St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch, which argued that it was unfair that the wine and distilled spirits industries were allowed to give out free samples of their wares. The beer company says it will conduct only small educational tastings about new beers. "It's an opportunity for us to get consumers to sample some of our new products," said Andrew Baldonado, western region vice president of...

If gas prices are driving you to drink, here's the place to go: the Handlebar, 2311 W. North. Under its Inverse Petrol-O-Matic Beer Pricing Scheme, beer prices will fall as gas prices rise. So with gas at $3, a pint of Goose Island 312 ale is also $3. When gas hits $4, the beer's $2. Five-dollar gas gets you beer for a buck and if gas hits $6 the beer's free. But if high gas prices don't faze you and you're in the market for a car, maybe you'd enjoy the Fine Motor Auction and Luxury Lifestyle Expo in New...

CAMP HABBANIYAH, Iraq — To Sgt. Dale Rogers of Company C, 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, the near beer that soldiers sometimes get in Kuwait and Iraq tastes like something drained through a wet sock. But that’s the closest the beer-loving Strike Force (2nd Infantry Division’s 2nd Brigade Combat Team) soldier will get to his favorite drink during the next few months of his deployment in Iraq. The cyber-savvy soldier, though, has plans to make up for the lost consumption during mid-tour leave to Qatar and when he and his mates return to the States next year. And it won’t...
