A North Carolina Court of Appeals found that a clinic, where personnel gave a 14-year-old boy a COVID-19 shot without his consent or parental consent, was protected by the Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness Act (PREP Act). Pushback is growing against Gov. Jay Inslee's new order mandating that all state employees, healthcare and long-term care workers get the COVID-19 vaccine.Under the governor's order, issued Monday, those workers must submit proof that they have been vaccinated against the virus by Oct. 18 - or else.The new mandate applies to 400,000 healthcare workers in Washington state and comes amid a fifth wave of COVID-19, as the highly contagious delta variant drives up cases and fills up hospital beds.
