New data has come in to measure in certifiable amounts how many Puerto Rican residents have fled the nation in recent months. Following the devastation left behind from hurricane Irma last September, speculation swirled over how many of the island residents would be transplanting to the U.S. mainland, and specifically how many would become established in Florida. With the level of destruction to the infrastructure, it was a given that an outward-moving wave of PR residents would take place. Over the past five years alone, the number of people fleeing the island nation’s debt crisis has been estimated in the...

As one of the largest mass shootings in modern U.S. history unfolded, Peterson never entered the building where alleged gunman Nikolas Cruz was opening fire and instead took up a position outside the building that was under attack. Peterson, 55, was widely criticized for his actions and Broward Sheriff Scott Israel opened an internal investigation. The deputy resigned and retired on Feb. 23, “rather than face possible termination.” Peterson, the Sun-Sentinel reported, has received a monthly state pension of $8,702.35 since April. He was paid $101,879.03 last year, according to the news outlet, which cited sheriff’s office records. The former...

You know your reporting sucks when you’re getting scooped by Russian bots! In early November 2016 the Gateway Pundit posted an article alleging voter fraud in Broward County Florida. ... These attempts by Florida Democrats to alter the election did not sway the election and Donald Trump won in an electoral landslide. ... Earlier today a Florida judge ruled that Broward County Elections Supervisor Brenda Snipes violated state and federal laws by destroying ballots from a 2016 congressional race while they were the subject of a lawsuit against her office. It looks like the Russian bots were right. So was...

Meet Eugenior Joseph, the latest victim of progressive liberal Democrat racism because he’s not on thier plantation. At a Cheesecake Factory (formula restaurant) on Mother’s Day, Joseph was accosted by several liberal Democrats employees of Cheesecake Factory in Miami. Why? Because he was wearing a red Make America Great Again. Several employees of the Cheesecake Factory went over the Eugenior Joseph and threatened to beat him up. They even called him the n-word. And what has Cheesecake Factory done to these racist employees? Issue a tepid aplogy (that Mr. Joseph denies) and suspending, with pay the employees who threatened and...

Well, someone finally said it: Liberals, you’re not as smart as you think—and you’re helping Donald J. Trump win a second term. Gerard Alexander, a political science professor at the University of Virginia, wrote this in The New York Times and he might have to change his name after this. He aptly noted how a) cultural centers are dominated by progressives; b) how they’re causing a backlash against liberalism; and c) how their inability to see that they are causing it will lead to a Trump victory in the next presidential election. The professor noted how the Left is overly...

roward Schools have grown so tolerant of misbehavior that students like Nikolas Cruz are able to slide by for years without strict punishment for conduct that could be criminal. The culture of leniency allows children to engage in an endless loop of violations and second chances, creating a system where kids who commit the same offense for the 10th time may be treated like it’s the first, according to records and interviews with people familiar with the process.

MIAMI - No one seemed to notice when a large white crane that had been working at the doomed Florida International University bridge lurched away down Tamiami Trail shortly after the span collapsed. There was a disaster to respond to: Mountains of concrete. Horribly mangled cars. Dead and injured people. It wasn't until some time later that authorities began wondering what happened to the crane and its operator, a close eyewitness who might help the investigation into the collapse. But he, and the crane, were gone. "He drove away in the crane and nobody stopped him,"

mass shooting of congressional Republicans... many lawmakers are mad, or frustrated, or saddened, at how quickly the story disappeared from the headlines given that the shooter, James T. Hodgkinson, targeted Republicans... Hodgkinson carried a list of names of lawmakers in his pocket: ... The list included their office numbers and short physical descriptions. He’d recorded video of the field in April of of that year — a sign, the prosecutor wrote in his official report, that Hodgkinson “had already selected Simpson field as a potential target as early as April 2017.” His social media was filled with Bernie and anti-Republican...

The he Broward school district’s repeated, emphatic — and it turns out, false — statements that Nikolas Cruz had not been in a controversial disciplinary program fit a pattern of an institution on the defensive and under siege. Facing significant legal and political exposure over the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, the district has tried to keep information from the public and put out untrue and misleading statements, frustrating parents who say this is the time for maximum transparency.

The California Assembly discussed Thursday a bill that would replace Abraham Lincoln or George Washington’s birthday with International Socialist Workers’ Day as a paid holiday. California Democrat Assemblyman Miguel Santiago introduced Bill AB-3042, which would allow schools to replace Washington Day and Lincoln Day with Presidents’ Day and install an “International Workers’ Day” — conventionally known as “May Day” — as a second holiday. “I’m aghast that a bill like this would be able to get through committee,” California Republican Assemblyman Matthew Harper said to the Assembly. “Are we in competition to be the laughing stock of the United States?”...

Like most Cuban-Americans, I have friends and relatives down in South Florida. I speak often with them on the phone. On Friday morning, a Cuban friend told me that Governor Scott could end up as the next senator from Florida. I was surprised to hear it, but my friend referred me to an article from the Tampa Bay Times:

Florida’s sunshine, yet again, is only worth a silver medal when it comes to the annual best and worst states to do business in survey published by Chief Executive magazine. How much of a silver? This is the 14th straight year Florida is the runner-up to Texas in the survey, of some 300 CEOs nationwide. The biggest factor blocking Florida from dethroning Texas won’t come as a surprise to many business leaders: workforce quality. Florida ranked No. 22 in that category, while Texas was No. 4. The business climate survey, on topics including workforce, taxes and regulation and living environment,...
