Was Joe Scarborough ever a good ol' Southern boy, as he still likes to portray himself? In any case, that persona has definitively disappeared. On today's Morning Joe, Scarborough exposed himself as the worst kind of condescending Upper West Side snob. The show devoted much of its opening segment to attacking Florida Governor Ron DeSantis over his Covid stance. At one point, after playing a clip of DeSantis's remarks on the subject, Scarborough referenced an ignorant Simpsons character, mocking: "I mean, who was he talking to? Cletus the Slack-Jawed Yokel?"Get the rest of the story and view the video here.

Was that actually Mika Brzezinski on Morning Joe today, or had someone hacked into the MSNBC feed and inserted a parody bit about elitist, Trump-hating snobs? We’ll look into it. In the meantime, here’s what “Mika” ostensibly said this morning: “I had some friends that went to Paris over the holiday, and they said they were just viscerally embarrassed to be Americans. They said it was the first time that it was sort of chilling. That they didn’t even want to share where they were from.”Get the rest of the story and view the video here.

Hugh Laurie absolutely roasted Donald Trump and the entire Republican party during his Golden Globes acceptance speech tonight. The actor won the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Series, Limited Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television for his work in The Night Manager, and he began his speech by saying “Thank you first to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for this amazing honor. I suppose it’s made more amazing by the fact that I’ll be able to say I won this at the last ever Golden Globes…I don’t mean to be gloomy, it’s just that it...

Huckabee’s taken potshots at her from time to time, but between this fusillade from unnamed Mitt advisors and the furious counterattack on Romney at Conservatives 4 Palin, I’d say that the 2012 primary is now, at long last, officially on. In the immortal words of Greg Stillson, “The missiles are flying. Hallelujah.” Still, few express much regard for Palin’s ultimate chances. One adviser to Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, and, by traditional standards, the putative 2012 frontrunner, says of Palin, “She’s not a serious human being.” Another Romney intimate warns, “If she’s standing up there in a debate and...
  • Filibuster Alito by John Kerry (Kerry's moonbat blog post on Daily Kos)

Filibuster Alito by John Kerry Do I support a filibuster? The answer is yes. Yesterday Senator Kennedy and I spoke with our colleagues about it. I don't have a shred of doubt in my opposition to Sam Alto's nomination. I know Senator Kennedy does not either. He has truly been a great leader in the effort to oppose Judge Alito. I spent a lot of time over the last years thinking about the Supreme Court and who America needs on the highest court in the land. So I don't hesitate a minute in saying that Sam Alito is not that...
  • McNamara hits at 'very dangerous' US policy on Iran and N Korea (Barf Alert)

Robert McNamara says he did not realise during the Cuban missile crisis of October 1962 just how close the US and the Soviet Union came to nuclear war. Forty-three years later, the controversial former US defence secretary is more concerned than ever about the dangers of nuclear weapons. Sitting in his Washington office, the subject of The Fog of War - the Oscar-winning documentary about his views on the Vietnam war - cautions, in a rare interview, that he does not want to talk about Iraq. The 89-year-old Mr McNamara - who served under Presidents John Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson...

Homosexual activists are calling for a boycott of Virginia because of its new ban on civil unions, but business and tourism leaders yesterday said it is too early to gauge the impact of such a boycott.

A new Web site started by homosexual activists in Seattle, VirginiaisforHaters.org, urges would-be tourists to boycott Virginia companies and their products. The Web site's name satirizes the state's tourism catch phrase: Virginia Is for Lovers.
