Here is a letter sent out to University of Michigan students from students4justice. This is my first post so bare with me:) "Placing us in the police’s care is an act of violence, especially for Black students."

Tomorrow, I hope that you will take the time to put all lessons aside and talk to our students about what has happened and how they feel. Please, let them speak and be heard. Let them say what is on their minds, this is crucial for our school and our community. Let us please not sidestep the fact that a racist and sexist man has become the president of our country by pandering to a huge racist and sexist base.

A Rutgers University professor was taken to a New York City hospital for a psychiatric evaluation after university police claimed he made threats to kill white people, authorities said Wednesday. But Kevin Allred said the comments he made in class and on Twitter in the days after Donald Trump won the presidential election were just rhetorical political statements. He claims school officials were trying to intimidate him for exercising his free speech rights. New York police said they were contacted by Rutgers police about the alleged threats. Allred, who is white, was taken to the hospital Tuesday night and released...

I hate to be yet another person adding to the noisy rhetoric about Donald Trump winning the election, but I feel like I would be shirking my duties as a journalist if I let this opportunity go. On the night that Donald Trump announced that he was running for President of the United States, we all laughed. There was no way an inexperienced businessman that was most famous for calling women ugly (just one of his many offenses against people) would get the Republican nomination. But he managed to defeat 16 contenders and earned that nomination. We all still laughed...

The election has been one of many emotions. It has been one of excitement and then of heartbreak and hopelessness for many. There have already been a lot of articles about students’ reactions to the results and I am with them in their disappointment. So, to deal with that feeling of disappointment and anger, I decided to go to the Ignite Your Right: Humanity Against Trump rally on Friday afternoon. The rally was similar to ones all over the country as college student protest Donald Trump being our next president. Fox News blasted college students for their reactions to the...

Will Donald Trump remake school lunches into his fast-food favorites of burgers and fried chicken when he’s president? Children grumbling about healthier school meal rules championed by first lady Michelle Obama may have reason to cheer Trump’s election as the billionaire businessman is a proud patron of Kentucky Fried Chicken and McDonald’s while promising to curb federal regulations. The Obama administration has made healthier, safer and better labeled food a priority in the last eight years, significantly raising the profile of food policy and sometimes drawing the ire of Republicans, farmers and the food industry. The first lady made reducing...

With Donald Trump’s remarks at the last presidential debate and on the campaign trail, however, he now threatens to reject the outcome of the election results if he’s not the winner, a lesson no educator wants to teach their students.“In 13 years of teaching, I have never witnessed such heated,...

Remember when everyone was saying ..."By a Date Certain"?...that was something that Hillary said for some reason that all the libs thought sounded cool....By A Date Certain was EVERYWHERE.... Lately it has been the word "Tranche"....this comes from the Wikileaks Dumps.....everyone thinks it sounds cool..... But now...All the Talking Heads are using the word "Decimate".... Decimate is not a synonym of 'Annihilate'. Per Urban Dictionary: It means to 'Reduce by One Tenth' A frequently misused word. MONDAY, Nov. 14, 2016 -- Spanking and hitting children to discipline them has been on the decline among U.S. parents -- rich and poor alike -- since 1988, a new study finds. According to the researchers, the number of mothers with an average income level who considered physical discipline acceptable decreased from 46 percent to 21 percent over two decades. At the same time, mothers who felt timeouts were a better type of discipline rose from 51 percent to 71 percent, the investigators found. "Parents seem to be using more reasoning and nonphysical discipline strategies with children, which is...

Educators across the city are taking action to calm classroom fears and they're ready to fight student bullying if it materializes in the wake of Donald Trump's victory. City teachers union president Michael Mulgrew issued a letter to members Thursday urging them to safeguard the interests of the 1.1 million students, as reports rolled in of conflict between kids on campuses around the country. The week of the election, a handful of incidents of harassment...
