I've had a pretty good relationship with the CDC here in Atlanta. With one group, I stayed for six years, did very well by them, and supported two major web applications. Things change, though, and when my division decided on a technology that I had no interest in -- Dynamics -- I moved on to another promising group. That group was.... um... well, how can I say it. It was underwhelming in terms of procedure and culture. Developers are treated as commodities, and our knowledge and opinions are not barely noticed, much less respected. Further, the technology I was hired...

With the economy rapidly weakening, some senior Democrats are having second thoughts about raising taxes on the nation's wealthiest families and are pressing party leaders to consider extending the full array of Bush administration tax cuts, at least through next year. This rethinking comes barely a month after Democrats trumpeted plans to stage a high-stakes battle over taxes in the final weeks before the November congressional elections.

Generational Dynamics is a theory that explains the cycles of history by the flow of human generations. The founder, John Xenakis, has been making predictions of uncanny accuracy since describing the theory in detail in 2002. He says that America and much of the world is now in a Crisis Era, and is headed for a global war, which could begin at almost any time. I interview John Xenakis about Generational Dynamics and how it explains the events of the modern world, from the Dot Com bubble to the impending crash of China's housing market. This three-part interview may be...
  • Iraq Demonstrates Dynamics, Challenges of Transition

WASHINGTON, Nov. 9, 2006 -- This week’s elections sent a signal that America, just like Iraq, is in a period of transition, but in no way diminish the two countries’ mutual commitment to success in Iraq, the spokesman for Multinational Force Iraq said today in Baghdad. “Here in Iraq, we look forward to working with a new secretary after the Senate confirmation process,” Army Maj. Gen. William Caldwell told military analysts by phone. “We are aware that there will be changes on Capitol Hill and at the Pentagon and that a period of transition will occur,” he said. “But...

WASHINGTON, Oct. 31, 2006 -- A planned increase in Iraqi security forces is a result of ongoing assessments of the situation in Iraq and will allow coalition forces to shift to more of a supporting role in that country, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said here today. Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld escorts Estonian Defense Minister Jurgen Ligi through a cordon of honor guards and into the Pentagon, Oct. 31. The two defense leaders met to discuss a range of international issues of mutual interest. Photo by James M. Bowman   '(Click photo for screen-resolution image);high-resolution image available. • Deadly attacks prompt safer combat vehicles

Engineer Paul Green wheels his company's new fully armored combat vehicle over the clay roads and muddy streambeds of the South Carolina backcountry, guns the engine and races over one hill and then the next. "This is designed to be what we thought would be a step up from the Humvee," he shouts as he shifts gears. "This vehicle was never designed to be a direct replacement for the current armored Humvee." But the prototype -- christened the MUV-R (Mine-protected Utility Vehicle/Rapid Deployable) by its manufacturer, Charleston, S.C.-based Force Protection, Inc. -- may well be.
