Mexican flags were waving at the rally of failed Senate candidate Robert “Beto” O’Rourke tonight as he denounced the effort to build a wall to protect America.

Prior to departing Joint Base Andrews, President Trump said to the press about his rally in El Paso, “We’re going there for a reason, we’re going there to keep our country safe … without a wall, it’s not going to work.” Trump told reporters that 75,000 people signed up for his campaign rally tonight in El Paso, but the arena only holds 8,000.

It’s still uncertain whether Beto O’Rourke will stand opposite President Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential campaign, but O’Rourke confirmed he will stand up to Trump at the Texas border Monday. The former congressman said Friday he will attend a rally in his hometown of El Paso meant to counter Trump’s appearance in the city on the same night.
