More than 60 Democratic members of Congress are urging President Obama to protect the hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants who signed up for his deferred action program before he leaves office next month. “You have pardoned hundreds and hundreds of people convicted for drug offenses,” Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., said at a Wednesday press conference in Washington. “We want you to use that same pardon power for hundreds of thousands of young people who came forward because you asked them to come forward. You asked them to come forward.” “With that comes responsibility, Mr. President,” he added. The White...

WASHINGTON—U.S. Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) released the following statement on comments made to Time magazine by President-elect Donald Trump, who said, “We’re going to work something out that’s going to make people happy and proud. They got brought here at a very young age, they’ve worked here, they’ve gone to school here. Some were good students. Some have wonderful jobs. And they’re in never-never land because they don’t know what’s going to happen.” “We’re encouraged by these comments by President-elect Trump — they present an opportunity to do the right thing for more than 744,000 young people...

Two senators said Wednesday they are "encouraged" by President-elect Donald Trump's pledge to reach a deal on some undocumented immigrants. “We’re encouraged by these comments by President-elect Trump — they present an opportunity to do the right thing for more than 744,000 young people who grew up here," Sens. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said in a joint statement. Trump told Time magazine that his administration would "work something out" for undocumented immigrants who were brought to the country as children. "They got brought here at a very young age," the real estate mogul said. "And they’re in...

President-elect Trump pushed back on the Democratic suggestion that he will deport so-called "Dreamers," or children brought to the U.S. illegally by their undocumented parents. "We're going to work something out that's going to make people happy and proud," Trump said of Dreamers in an interview with Time magazine after he secured its "Person of the Year" title.

WASHINGTON — South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham confirmed Thursday he is in the process of reaching out to former “Gang of Eight” members to help him craft legislation that would protect immigrants who illegally entered the country as children from deportation. Graham and other Gang of Eight members — Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain, Arizona Republican Sen. Jeff Flake, Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, New York Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer, Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez, and Colorado Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet — crafted immigration legislation in 2013 that passed the Senate but was never...

The University of California system announced Wednesday that campus police will not undertake joint efforts with any law enforcement agencies to investigate students suspected of breaking federal immigration laws. Police officers at the UC’s 10 campuses will not contact, detain, question or arrest any individual solely on the basis of immigration status, except as required by law, the school system said in a statement. The move comes in response to the election of Donald Trump, who has promised a widespread crackdown on illegal immigration.

President-elect Donald Trump ran on a platform of being extremely tough on immigration. One of his vows to voters was that he’d get rid of President Barack Obama’s executive actions, which could include those that provided protections to young undocumented immigrants from being deported. One Republican lawmaker and Trump critic is now prepping legislation that would keep those protections in place in case Trump moves forward with his pledge. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has said he is working with both Democrats and Republicans in order to protect immigrants, known as Dreamers, who willingly came forward to give their information in...

White House officials moved Thursday afternoon to stop the nascent effort by Democrats and immigration activists asking President Obama to pardon so-called DREAMers, releasing a statement to BuzzFeed News that the president does not have the power to do so. “The president takes the executive clemency power seriously. As a general matter, we do not comment on the likelihood of whether a specific pardon may be granted, should one be requested,” a White House official said. “We note that the clemency power could not give legal status to any undocumented individual. As we have repeatedly said for years, only Congress...

WASHINGTON ― Democrats are pressuring President Barack Obama to do whatever he can before leaving office to protect the more than 740,000 undocumented young people to whom he granted temporary work permits from the threat of deportation under the new administration. On Thursday, Reps. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.), Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-Calif.) and Luis Gutiérrez (D-Ill.) asked Obama to issue pardons to Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients, many of whom fear they could soon be under threat of deportation from President-elect Donald Trump. The request is a long shot. Obama created the program for so-called Dreamers using executive authority, and there’s...

There have been a lot of crazy reactions from the democrats now that Donald Trump has won the presidency but none as insane as this one from US Representative Luis Gutierrez. The shit-talking homeboy from Illinois is threatening to go to war with Trump, ICE, DHS, and the entire federal government if the next president dares to enforce our country's immigration laws by deporting illegal aliens. Did I say insane? I meant treasonous.

President-elect Donald Trump has said that he plans to deport two to three million undocumented immigrants immediately - and that he will be building his wall along the US-Mexico border. In an interview with CBS's 60 Minutes that airs on Sunday - his first since winning the election - Trump insisted that he will build the wall that was a vital part of his presidential campaign. 'What we are going to do is get the people that are criminal and have criminal records, gang members, drug dealers, where a lot of these people, probably two million, it could be even...
  • Hillary drafts illegal 'Dreamers' to get immigrants to vote

Hillary Clinton's campaign on Sunday announced a program to recruit undocumented "Dreamers" into a voter registration army even though they are not allowed to vote. Celebrating the four-year anniversary of President Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, Clinton launched "Mi Sueno, Tu Voto" (My Dream, Your Vote), to rally and "secure commitments" from immigrants who can vote. The DACA program created so-called "Dreamers," the children of illegal immigrants who the president has offered renewable two-year work visas and deportation deferral. The goal for many in the program is amnesty. "We may not have the right to vote, but 'Mi...

The Hillary Clinton campaign on Sunday announced a voter registration effort led by illegal immigrants on the four year anniversary of President Barack Obama’s executive action to protect illegal aliens from deportation. According to a statement the campaign launched “‘Mi Sueño, Tu Voto’ (My Dream, Your Vote), to organize DREAMers to mobilize their communities and ask voters to consider what is at stake for their families in November.” “DREAMers have played a pivotal role in our campaign, advocating for families who constantly live in fear of deportation–so we’ve created a program that aims to turn these stories into action,” Lorella...

President Barack Obama sought to reassure millions of immigrants in the U.S. illegally that he has no plans to deport them, while acknowledging that the Supreme Court’s deadlock Thursday marks the end of the road for his push to reform the U.S. immigration system. Though Obama predicted an immigration overhaul is inevitable, he conceded it won’t happen while he’s president due to opposition from the current Congress. Working to lay the groundwork for the next president to pick up the effort, he cast the election in November as a referendum on how the country would treat its immigrants. “We’re going...

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KABC) -- A brazen armed robbery was caught on camera in Northern California and police hope someone will be able to recognize the criminals. The video shows two men armed with an Uzi-type gun, violently robbing a wholesale food supply store in San Jose. One of the suspects can be seen using his fists to knock out a female employee. The man then grabs a fistful of cash off her desk and empties her pockets.

The Supreme Court’s deliberations over President Barack Obama’s immigration order are putting that potential deportation relief on a collision course with Donald Trump’s deportation force. It’s still an open question whether the shorthanded court will ultimately determine that Obama has the authority to defer deportation for millions of undocumented immigrants. And until it gives its answer next month, his administration isn’t allowed to prepare for the possibility by hiring staff or creating forms. White House officials have told immigrant advocacy groups it’ll take about two months to get everything up and running — which would put the first applications for...

There is something a bit unsettling about watching violent, foul-mouthed protesters waving the Mexican flag on American soil. Over the weekend, Hispanic children lined the streets in Fort Wayne, Indiana – hurling filthy insults at Donald Trump supporters. “F*** you,” the youngsters shouted as they flipped off passerby. “F*** you.” Video captured images of the angry protesters wearing sombreros and holding signs that read, “Brown Pride.”

Is this Obama’s America? Shocking video has emerged from the anti-Donald Trump protests in California showing Hispanic children — probably 10 to 12 years old — giving the middle finger to cars of Trump supporters. The kids, wearing sombreros and ironically holding signs reading “No hate,” screamed “F*ck you!” repeatedly at the passing motorists. One of the children in the center of the action could be seen wearing a Bernie Sanders sticker. Hillary Clinton campaign signs could also be seen in the crowd. One sign reads “F*ck You Puto.” “Puto” means “male prostitute” in Spanish.

PHOENIX — Arizona cannot legally deny "dreamers'' the right to drive, a federal appeals court ruled late Tuesday. A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Arizona cannot decide for itself who is legally entitled to be in this country. The judges said that power rests solely with Congress. The judges also said the policy of denying licenses to those in the Obama administration's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program ran afoul of the Equal Protection Clause of the U.S. Constitution. That's because the state was still issuing licenses to others in different deferred action programs....
