Friday on MSNBC, network political commentator former Rep. Donna Edwards (D- MD) accused President Donald Trump of choosing Tulsa, OK for his rally on Saturday to spread chaos among black Americans to please his “hardcore white supremacist base.” Host Joy Reid said, “It is a weird thing. The candidate creates the vibe that they want. They create what they want reflected back to them in the audience. Donald Trump seems to luxuriate in creating atmospheres of violence. That’s what he enjoys at his rallies. As somebody who has been an elected official in the South, people leave Maryland out of...

The House is on fire. And with each passing day, Donald Trump defiles the office of the president. If only past defrocked presidents could provide a roadmap for this firestorm. Andrew Johnson fought impeachment vigorously and survived removal, but never won reelection. Richard Nixon got in the way of justice, but eventually bowed to the rule of law, accepting his asterisk in the annals of history and resigning before certain removal. Bill Clinton expressed contrition, went on to complete his presidency with high approval ratings and has remained a popular former president. If you care about democracy, the rule of...

Former Congresswoman Donna Edwards told Chris Matthews tonight that President Donald Trump is engaging in rhetoric from “the Nazi playbook,” after he said Trump’s rhetoric is “Hitlerian.” Matthews showed the clip of Fox News’ Chris Wallace telling Mick Mulvaney that the use of words like “infested” “sounds like vermin” and “sub-human.” He said the use of such rhetoric aimed at Congress members of color shows a pattern. After praising Wallace, Matthews said, “‘Infested.’ It’s ‘vermin.’ It’s a Hitlerian term… He’s obsessed with this thing about cities.”

Senator Markey has announced his support for the Iran deal that will let the terrorist regime inspect its own Parchin nuclear weapons research site, conduct uranium enrichment, build advanced centrifuges, buy ballistic missiles, fund terrorism and have a near zero breakout time to a nuclear bomb. There was no surprise there. Markey had topped the list of candidates supported by the Iran Lobby. And the Iranian American Political Action Committee (IAPAC) had maxed out its contributions to his campaign. After more fake suspense, Al Franken, another IAPAC backed politician who also benefited from Iran Lobby money, came out for the...

Those putting party over country try to conceal their votes from the public. Democratic senators supporting President Obama’s disastrous nuclear deal with Iran are cowards. They know that a majority of Americans oppose the deal. Thus, they are running for cover to avoid going on the record and voting against a resolution disapproving the deal. A filibuster to block a vote on the merits altogether is the Democratic Senate caucus’s preferred way out. The White House is reportedly pushing the filibuster strategy even though Obama is virtually certain to have enough votes to sustain a veto of a resolution of...

Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.), who has served in Congress longer than any woman in history, will announce at a news conference Monday that she is retiring from the Senate after five terms in office, three people familiar with her plans said. Mikulski, 78, was the first woman to chair the powerful Appropriations Committe, a post she had to give up this year when the Democrats lost control of the Senate. A social worker turned politician, she has been a forceful presence on many pieces of legislation, passionately liberal on certain issues but also committed to working closely with Republicans.

Maryland Democratic Sen. Barbara Mikulski will announce later Monday that she won’t seek reelection in 2016, two sources familiar with her plans confirmed to POLITICO, opening up a seat long coveted by Free State Democrats looking to move up. The 78-year-old Mikulski is the longest-serving woman in congressional history. She was first elected to the Senate in 1986, after serving five terms in the House. Mikulski’s campaign called an 11 a.m. press conference in Baltimore on only a few hours’ notice, saying only that she’d make an “important announcement about her future plans.” Her retirement will create an open seat...

“Donna [Edwards] has to hope she remains the only minority candidate,” said one longtime Democratic Maryland strategist who has worked on multiple campaigns in the state. “The more white males that jump in, the better it is for her.” Maryland Democrats are bracing for a bitter primary battle split along gender, race, geographic and ideological lines. “It’s going to be a nasty, nasty primary,” one Democratic state legislator told The Hill. “When you have primaries with people that have such similar voting records, it usually comes down to character attacks.” That’s the scene Democrats fear is unavoidable after longtime Sen....

Democratic Rep. Donna Edwards of Maryland intends to join the race to replace retiring Sen. Barbara Mikulski, hoping to become the first African-American elected to the Senate from her state, according to officials familiar with her plans. Edwards would become the second member of the state’s House delegation to announce her intentions to run for the Senate. Democratic Rep. Chris Van Hollen joined the race last week. No Republican has yet stepped forward to run for a seat in a Democratic state. …

WASHINGTON (AFP) — US lawmakers on Friday "strongly condemned" what they called Beijing's harsh pre-Olympic crackdown in China's Muslim-populated far northwest Xinjiang region. The bipartisan leadership of the Congressional Human Rights Caucus in a statement cited "credible" reports about a July 9 conviction in a closed trial of 15 minority Muslim Uighurs on terrorism charges that led to "the immediate execution of two" of them. Three others were given suspended death sentences and the remaining 10 received life imprisonment, it said. These are "abuses of due process and rule of law," said caucus co-chairmen Democrat Jim McGovern and Republican Frank...

“Cringe-worthy.” “Terrible.” “I think everyone in that room wanted to drag their fingernails across their face.” “The most painful speech ever.” Just some of the reviews of Democrat Congresswoman Donna Edwards’ atrocious speech. Edwards was supposed to be entertaining journalists and reporters with a monologue. But not only did it bomb, it was excruciating for those in attendance. Let’s see if you find these two select snippets (verbatim from the speech) funny: “Come on, help me y’all: I want to give a really special shout out to Nancy Pelosi and all my sisters in the libido caucus — holla’!” “There...

....It was supposed to be a comedy – an annual ritual where a member of Congress entertains a wonky crowd of journalists, lawmakers, and all variety of political insiders with jokes you wouldn’t mind repeating to your mother. But more people were wincing than laughing.

Rep. Donna Edwards (D-MD) delivered the keynote speech yesterday at the Washington Press Club Foundation. The far left politician compared Republicans to monkeys and gave a shout out to Nancy Pelosi and “all my sisters in the libido caucus.” The Politico reported: Washingtonians sit through terrible speeches all the time: dry rules hearings, partisan floor lectures and, let’s face it, even the State of the Union some years. So it was a bad day for Rep. Donna Edwards Thursday, when Washingtonians gathered at coffee pots and in lunch rooms across town and deemed her performance at the Washington Press Club...

A panel of politicians and commentators on NBC’s Meet the Press sized up the political issues that will dominate 2014 heading into the midterm elections on Sunday. The panel largely agreed that the Affordable Care Act is the most pressing issue of the day today, but they were not sure if that dynamic would still be in place by November. PBS anchor Judy Woodruff said that the issue of “inequality” is compelling and could speak to more Americans’ lives than the ACA’s implementation woes. NBC News Chief White House Correspondent Chuck Todd began the segment by observing that the Democrats...

(CNSNews.com) – A group of House Democrats labeling themselves the Safe Climate Caucus held a press conference today to warn that if Congress does not address global warming, the country could face dire consequences, including detrimental effects to California wines and an end to Vermont skiing. One Democratic representative even worried that global warming could destroy the state of Maryland. “If we do nothing about what is happening, it will destroy our economy, it will destroy our state, and it will have a broad impact not just here in this country but around the world,” Maryland Rep. Donna Edwards (D-Md.)...
