ABC News is reporting that John Edwards has been repeatedly flirting with a female juror during his trial, a distraction that "has become so obvious that even Edwards' attorneys have to work to suppress their laughter at the absurdity of it all." The juror (who is an alternate) is a young woman with jet-black hair. According to the report, "The juror clearly instigated the exchanges. She smiles at him. He smiles at her. She giggles. He blushes."

John Edwards apparently didn't think too highly of his mistress. According to testimony Tuesday from Edwards' former top confidante, the ex-senator didn't give himself great odds when he doubted that he was the father of Rielle Hunter's unborn child. "He said that she was a crazy slut, and it was a one-in-three chance that it was his child," Young testified. Whether or not those were the odds, Edwards made a bad bet. A North Carolina Democrat faces serious sexual misconduct charges, and this time it isn't the state's former senator John Edwards. The ex-girlfriend of former state party executive Jay Parmley claims that he gave her HIV and his lawyers promised to put her on the Democratic National Committee's health insurance. Mr Parmley's ex Rebecca Burgin, 29, spoke out today saying that her 'biggest concern is for anybody else that had had a relationship with him that he did not tell'. Democratic Assemblywoman Mary Hayashi of Castro Valley has been charged with felony grand theft after being caught on video surveillance allegedly shoplifting more than $2,000 worth of merchandise from San Francisco’s Neiman Marcus store on Union Square, prosecutors say. Hayashi, 45, who has served in the Assembly since 2006 — and is married to Alameda Superior Court Judge Dennis Hayashi — was arraigned Thursday in San Francisco Superior Court. She had earlier posted $15,000 bail.

With Friday's vote over, senators quickly moved to vacate the floor. Cars were waiting outside to whisk members to airports to take flights home. Though the Senate was originally scheduled to be in session, Reid, D-Nev., noted that would not be the case and no votes would be taken before Monday afternoon. Reid said that the session wasn't necessary because Obama and Boehner were working on a compromise measure.
