RIVERSIDE – The union representing thousands of Riverside County Sheriff's Department employees has recommended people stay away from the Soboba Indian Casino following fatal shootings last month of tribal members by deputies. PAHOKEE -- Dozens of law officers were combing through a fog-shrouded cane field near Lake Okeechobee Wednesday morning in search of suspects who led authorities on a wild chase that ended with two deputies being killed. GEORGETOWN, Ind. - A 15-year-old boy used a World War II-era sniper rifle to fatally shoot a deputy and critically wound another outside his southern Indiana home, authorities said Tuesday. The teen, Tyler Dumstorf, had shot the deputies Monday evening and was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot early Tuesday inside the home about 13 miles outside Louisville, Ky., authorities said. Investigators also found over 70 illegal immigrants PALMVIEW - Sheriff's deputies arrested the head of an auto theft ring near Palmview. The man is also accused of human smuggling. The arrest happened on Bentsen Palm Drive and Three Mile Line. Investigators were watching a house connected to possible stolen vehicles. Police were searching for a suspect who shot two sheriff's deputies Thursday, authorities said. The Polk County deputies were taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center following the early afternoon shooting in north Lakeland, sheriff's spokeswoman Donna Wood said. Illegal immigrants crossing the Arizona desert in will have to worry about being apprehended by one more law enforcement agency.
