The Danish government announced on Thursday that it was extending controls at its border with Germany. In a letter to the EU, Copenhagen cited the security risk posed by people fleeing deportation orders south of the border. “The large number of illegal migrants and rejected asylum seekers who are awaiting deportation in Germany are a real security threat,” the Danish government wrote in a letter to the EU justifying the decision to extend border controls. Less than a quarter of Danes oppose a ban on the burqa and niqab, according to a new survey. Denmark has signed an agreement to provide water purification technology to the thirsty coastal US state of California, in a deal that could bring millions into the Danish economy. Aarhus Municipality has given an anti-abortion protest group 48 hours to remove stickers from public areas in the city.
