After the historic decision where the Supreme Court affirmed that the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms applied to individuals in the Heller decision, the victorious attorney Alan Gura filed another suit in the District of Columbia.   The object of this lawsuit was simple: Require the D.C. government to allow a person to carry a handgun for defense outside of the home. From the The Washington Times: The lawsuit argues that the District’s “laws, customs, practices and policies generally banning the carrying of handguns in public violate the Second Amendment” of the U.S. Constitution. It asks that...

It looks as though the controversial “Million Muslim March” set for the September 11 anniversary in Washington, D.C. may fall well short of a crowd numbering in the seven figure range.Even the Huffington Post has all but written it off: “‘Million Muslim March’ Shaping Up To Be More Like A Few Hundred People Walking Down The Street.”Here are a couple of shots of the reported turnout from WTOP:(Credit: Twitter/@JohnAaronWTOP) (Credit: Twitter/@JohnAaronWTOP) Turns out a memo delivered to tenants of a downtown D.C. office building said to expect “somewhere in the hundreds, not thousands, of participants,” according to police estimates,...

Several thousand bikers are set to descend on the District today as part of a ride meant to honor those who died on September 11th, 2001, despite not being granted a request for a no-stop permit and police escorts. The group behind the ride, called 2 Million Bikers to D.C., requested police escorts and to have several streets around the District blocked so that they could ride through red lights and pedestrian crossings. They were, however, denied their requests by the National Park Service and the Metropolitan Police-- which has caused outrage on Twitter and some blogs.September 11th has...

The air quality around our nation’s capitol smelled a lot like exhaust fumes today and the noise level was simply deafening. But the most dramatic effect was the earth shaking from the million or more motorcycles that slowly sped toward town, like an unstoppable army of patriots. Here are the first news reports, not from the left-wing mainstream news media but from the participants, themselves. The bikers’ Facebook page has exploded with over 100,000 likes, almost doubling the number in just two days. Biker clubs from all over America have signed on to participate in the ride and some clubs...

5 min inspiring video showing rider's perspective of 9-11 Harley ride to Wash DC, after permits were denied. VERY moving selection of music --from Saving Private Ryan..? The video maker had some basic knowledge about video editing. This played for me only in Safari, not Firefox (which would permit only the first 10 seconds of the 5 min video), my guess is the music was not licensed. One more lying Obama agency – The Parks Department. As you know, the permit for a no-stop ride through DC tomorrow September 11, 2103 was denied. A Park Department employee Sheila Gotha allegedly told media the Biker’s application for a permit was never received and that’s why it was denied. Odd since the organizer, Belinda Bee says: “From my understanding, [Gotha] has told two other media outlets that she had never heard of our permit, that we have never had a conference call. I shot them the email showing where she scheduled the conference call and on that conference call...

  • 'Batwoman' Co-Authors Exit, Claim DC 'Prohibited' Lesbian Marriage

DC Comics' Batwoman is losing its two co-authors. In a blog post late Wednesday, co-authors J.H. Williams and W. Haden Blackman wrote that they'd be exiting the comic after Issue 26 is released in December, citing creative difficulties with DC. Batwoman was relaunched in 2010 as a stand-alone series that told a new origin story about female Caped Crusader Kate Kane (aka Batwoman), this time a member of the U.S. Military Academy who was forced to leave after allegations arose that she was gay. Rather than hide her sexual orientation, she opted to leave the academy. "In recent months, DC...

Washington police are operating under orders to arrest tourists and other non-residents traveling with spent bullet or shotgun casings, a crime that carries a $1,000 fine, a year in jail and a criminal record, according to a new book about the city's confusing gun laws. "Empty shell casings are considered ammunition in Washington, D.C., so they are illegal to possess unless you are a resident and have a gun registration certificate," pens Emily Miller in her investigative book, "Emily Gets Her Gun: ... But Obama Wants to Take Yours." Under the law, live or empty brass and plastic casings must...

With Mayor Vince Gray expected to receive the Large Retailer Accountability Act for a signature or veto by the end of the week, supporters of the bill rallied last night at Ward 7's Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church. Gray says he hasn't made up his mind on the bill yet, although statements from Deputy Mayor Victor Hoskins and threats from Walmart to pull out of proposed stores in the mayor's home Ward 7 point toward a veto.

Whether it's their problems with "taxation without representation" or the flood of foreign diplomats weaving around town, drivers in the nation's capital are the most likely to get into a car accident, according to a new report from Allstate. The insurance company's annual study on safe drivers, now in its ninth year, looked at property-damage claims in 194 cities from January 2010 through December 2011 and compared them to the national average. In Washington, D.C., drivers were 109 percent more likely to get into a crash, while the D.C. suburbs of Alexandria and Arlington, Va. – along with Baltimore, Providence,...
