<p>A veteran Arizona legislator is apologizing while defending herself from criticism for comments she made on immigration and birth rates.</p> <p>The Phoenix New Times posted audio of a July 15 speech during which state Sen. Sylvia Allen said a flood of immigration and low birth rates among whites amid a lack cultural assimilation mean “we’re going to look like South American countries very quickly.”</p>

The left has a bad habit of labeling conservatives racist merely for being politically incorrect. Whereas when someone on the left actually is racist, they get a free pass. Hillary Clinton recently joked about how a woman interviewing her confused the two black men Eric Holder and Cory Booker. “Yeah, I know they all look alike," Clinton laughed. An Arizona state legislator with a history of anti-immigrant commentary is facing calls to resign after he told university students that black people “don’t blend in” to society like European immigrants and “always look different.” The legislator, Representative David Stringer, who represents the Yavapai County area, made the comments after a public lecture at Arizona State University on Nov. 19, during which history professor Donald Critchlow discussed the 2018 midterm elections. Mr. Critchlow said students recorded a “private conversation” they had with Mr. Stringer after the lecture. The recording was sent to local news outlets last week.
