On The Factor this evening, host Bill O’Reilly brought on a panel to discuss Fox News contributor Sarah Palin’s falling poll numbers. The Polling Company founder and president Kellyanne Conway suggested Palin’s increased visibility and celebrity status may be partially to blame for the falling numbers. In a word: Overexposure. Fox News contributor Tammy Bruce, meanwhile, was more interested in how those poll numbers might change once Palin is given an “unfiltered” platform for espousing her political beliefs – insinuating, of course, that Americans have yet to truly hear Palin’s opinions or her take on political issues.

A Bloomberg News poll released Thursday shows trouble for the potential presidential candidacy of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. A vast majority of respondents viewed Palin unfavorably. Sixty percent had an unfavorable view of Palin, compared with only 28 percent with a favorable one. President Obama had a personal favorability rating of 55 percent with 41 percent viewing him unfavorably. Two other potential Republican candidates for the presidency, businessman Donald Trump and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, had low favorability ratings. Trump was viewed favorably by 37 percent of respondents and unfavorably by 43 percent. Gingrich was viewed...
  • Watchdog Exploring Campaign Finance, Ethics Law-Breaking By Scott Walker

Washington, D.C.—Gov. Scott Walker (R-Wisc.), in a taped telephone conversation released last night, appears to suggest political coordination while talking to someone he believes is one of his political donors, David Koch--a possible illegal action, according to campaign watchdog Public Campaign Action Fund.
  • Is Palin just a politician, after all?

Sarah Palin told reporters that she would have no problem with the porn lobby being cosponsors and holding respected seats at the table at last week's CPAC meeting. Nor does she have a problem with Planned Parenthood. After all, these are "different, diverse groups involved in political discourse" – so why not allow them all to crowd in under the "conservative" umbrella? Actually, she didn't say these things, but instead told Fox News "gay" groups had a right to be at CPAC. But, why not these others as well? Don't they fit her broad qualifications, as stated above? Why not...

Tammy Bruce, columnist, radio host & conservative gay activist, announced on her website today that she will resign her position as advisory board member to GoProud. I want to let you know that after being a supporter and serving as Chair of the Advisory Board since May of 2010, I gave Chris Barron and Jimmy LaSalvia my resignation Saturday night. If you search GOProud here at the blog you’ll see the affection with which I’ve held both Chris and Jimmy, and I wish them well. I spoke with Tammy at the CPAC convention and when asked for comment on the...

Sarah Palin has hired a veteran operative to serve as a chief of staff to her loosely organized team, one of the biggest indicators yet that the former Alaska governor is leaning toward a run for the White House. POLITICO confirmed late Friday night that Palin has hired Michael Glassner to serve the key role.
  • Palin: Mubarak Relationship “Not Moral or Ethical”

On whether the United States should have been giving foreign aid to President Mubarak: “Over 30 years of standing by Mubarak’s side and he essentially standing with America on a lot of our interests it makes sense that we have a reciprocal relationship but no it is not moral or ethical. We are watching Mubarak and realizing the billions of dollars that have been spent, he’s become rich, a lot of the dictatorship has personally benefited. So where do those funds end up? We need to pull back on those countries where the money isn't doing any good."
  • Gays and the GOP: Palin and Pawlenty Explore the Hornet's Nest

Sarah Palin did not say she supports gay marriage. She hasn't celebrated the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell. But she also did not say that a gay Republican group should be banned from participating in a big Republican conference, and for that, social conservatives are begging her to "clarify." Controversy has been brewing for months over GOProud, a gay conservative group, and its participation in CPAC, one of the biggest Republican events of the year--a must-do for most aspiring presidential hopefuls. Many social conservative groups are boycotting the conference because GOProud was allowed to participate. But Palin said she...

Sarah Palin, liberal darling?! Continue Reading That was the outcome of a Harris Poll taken online at the end of January, with some 23 percent of self-described liberals saying they want Sarah Palin to run for the Republican nomination in 2012. Libs "may be looking at who they would like to see Barack Obama run against," according to the release from the pollsters, whose survey was among a group of 2,566 people taken Jan. 17 and Jan. 24. The pollsters didn't provide a margin of error since the sample size was self-selected — meaning it was only people who agreed...
  • Bristol Palin: I’d ‘probably’ run for office ‘further down the road’

In an exclusive, in-depth interview with E! Online’s Giuliana Rancic, “Dancing With the Stars” finalist Bristol Palin talked about running for public office “further down the road,” son Tripp, ex-boyfriend Levi Johnston, her new boyfriend, and being a Maricopa, Ariz. homeowner. When Rancic asked if she would ever run for office, Palin said, “Probably. But that would be further down the road.” “If I saw something that needed to be changed, then I would step up to the plate and do something about it,” Palin said, addressing what would motivate her to enter elective politics. Palin said she would run...
  • Palin trails Obama in red Tennessee

Sarah Palin's big problems among the GOP faithful are on clear display in a new poll that shows large numbers of Republicans aren’t sure about her and the tea party darling trails President Barack Obama in a head-to-head matchup in Tennessee — even with the president's job approval numbers running low in the state. The poll in the solidly red state where she and McCain crushed Obama by 15 points two years ago is a warning bell that Palin, despite her following and appeal to conservatives, remains fairly radioactive to some Republican voters, who are far from convinced she can...
