New Jersey Democrats have admitted that a series of robocalls on behalf of third party candidate for governor Chris Daggett were paid for by the Democratic State Committee - final proof that Daggett has been a spoiler for Republican Chris Christie all along. Matt Friedman of Politiker New Jersey writes: A Democratic spokeswoman says the party's chairman, Joe Cryan, was not aware of the robocalls when he denied that the state committee had anything to do with them yesterday afternoon. Cryan, who told PolitickerNJ.com yesterday afternoon that the Democratic State Committee had "absolutely" nothing to do with the call, could...

This news breaks too late to make much of a difference, but it simply confirms what many have long suspected: that the Democrats have so much of a vested interest in independent Christopher Daggett splitting the anti-incumbent vote that they are putting resources into promoting him. The Democratic State Committee now admits paying for a robocall to Somerset County voters that slams Republican Chris Christie and promotes independent gubernatorial candidate Christopher Daggett. A Democratic spokeswoman says the party’s chairman, Joe Cryan, was not aware of the robocalls when he denied that the state committee had anything to do with them...

Sarah Palin surely is shaking things up, isn't she? Earlier today she used Facebook to call out Chris Daggett on his false claim that she had called for him to drop out of the New Jersey gubernatorial race. So, to the good people of New Jersey, please know that Daggett’s claims are false. I’ve never even suggested he should drop out of the race. But, come to think of it… Chris Daggett admits she's correct. George Stephanopolous of ABC News reports: A Daggett spokesman acknowledges that Daggett’s claim on MSNBC was incorrect. “She never contacted us asking us to drop...

[snip] A Daggett spokesman acknowledges that Daggett’s claim on MSNBC was incorrect. “She never contacted us asking us to drop out,” Daggett spokesman Tom Johnson told ABC News. Johnson said Daggett got the incorrect impression about Palin from people on his campaign bus who themselves were mistaken and relying on an unsubstantiated blog item. “Someone wrote mistakenly on a blog that Sarah Palin asked Chris Daggett to drop out of the race,” said Johnson. Kevin Gass, a volunteer traveling on the Daggett campaign bus, heard the incorrect Palin item, assumed that it was true and twittered about it from the...

NJ’s Governor’s Race: Candidate Plays Loose With Facts? Today at 9:43am Despite what candidate Chris Daggett is claiming, I have never contacted him or his campaign. I have never asked him to drop out of the NJ Governor’s race. Now, if a politician is going to play loose with facts like this, the electorate needs to know it. So, to the good people of New Jersey, please know that Daggett’s claims are false. I’ve never even suggested he should drop out of the race. But, come to think of it… - Sarah Palin

Two days before the New Jersey gubernatorial election, a new poll shows voters are split just about evenly between Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine and Republican challenger Chris Christie. The two candidates have been in a dead heat for weeks. The Monmouth University/Gannett New Jersey poll showed Christie with a 1-point lead over Corzine, well within the margin of error. Among likely voters, Christie pulled 43 percent and Corzine pulled 42 percent. The survey also showed Independent Chris Daggett becoming less of a factor, with his support dropping from 14 percent to 8 percent. But the poll data suggests Daggett's supporters...

New Jersey independent gubernatorial candidate Chris Daggett shows in an interview with Hugh Hewitt that he doesn't know what corruption is, but he at least doesn't recognize it when he sees it with Jon Corzine.

While most people outside of New Jersey haven't given much thought to the Lt. Gov. candidates, it might be worthwhile to set the record straight. After all, due to a law passed by the New Jersey legislature in 2005 this will be the first year that the office of Lt. Governor will exist in this state. We already pointed out that Sierra Club endorsed, sales tax increase, Chris Daggett is spoiling the election for Chris Christie by claiming he will be more fiscally conservative. Well, it seems that his running mate Frank Esposito voted for Obama last year. So let...

New Jersey voters don't be fooled. It is pretty clear that without Chris Daggett on the ballot, Chris Christie would be the next governor. Jon Corzine has never polled above 42% even in the best poll results. Chris Daggett is the only person who could keep Corzine in office at this point. He is trying to hand the election to Corzine. Although it is quite clear that Christie is not a red meat conservative, he is our best option and is infinitely better than Corzine. Liberal publications and the Republican establishment are trying to label Daggett as an insurgent conservative...

s Doug Hoffman continues to surge in the NY-23 congressional race, the liberal establishment Republicans are continuing to peddle disingenuous defenses of their support for ACORN Republican Dede Scozzafava. The clowns at the NRCC are now comparing Doug Hoffman's candidacy to Chris Daggett's spoiler run for governor in New Jersey, which might cost Republican Chris Christie the election. They claim that just as conservatives are playing spoiler for Christie by running on ideological purism versus electoral realism, they are similarly deluding themselves in supporting Hoffman over Scozzafava. This argument is so preposterous and is false on every premise. Lets look...

Let’s play a game. It’s New Jersey’s election-day equivalent of "Where’s Waldo?" and here’s how it goes: Scan the November ballot and try to find Chris Daggett, independent candidate for governor. You’ll need Magellan’s sense of direction, a strong pair of reading glasses and lots of patience.

In New Jersey, this year's governor’s race may come down to turnout and how much support an independent candidate can hold onto. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in New Jersey shows Republican challenger Chris Christie with 41% of the vote, incumbent Democratic Governor Jon Corzine at 39% and independent candidate Chris Daggett with 11%. Compared to a week ago, that’s a four-point drop for Christie, a two-point decline for the governor and a two-point gain for Daggett. The number of undecided voters is up three points as well.

Finally, a third party candidate is getting some serious consideration in the highly corrupt and dysfunctional Garden State. Independent candidate for New Jersey governor Chris Daggett has picked up the endorsement of the Star-Ledger, the state's largest daily newspaper, in an editorial published Sunday. It cited the need for "radical change" in how state government operates, saying Daggett's election would repudiate the status quo and put "a highly qualified occupant" in the governor's office. "(Our) decision is less a rejection of Gov. Jon Corzine and Republican Chris Christie than a repudiation of the parties they represent, both of which have...

Christopher J. Daggett had the crowd on its feet. Well, it was a bar, there were not many seats, and the crowd was only about 50 people. But they were devoted Democrats in a bastion of New Jersey’s Democratic machine. And Mr. Daggett, the independent candidate for governor, was winning them over. While the Democratic governor, Jon S. Corzine, and the Republican candidate, Christopher J. Christie, appear to be turning off voters with nasty ads and personal attacks, Mr. Daggett is turning them on — or at least persuading them to give him a closer look. After he showed up...

The Star-Ledger today endorses independent candidate Chris Daggett and recommends his election as the next governor of New Jersey. The newspaper’s decision is less a rejection of Gov. Jon Corzine and Republican Chris Christie than a repudiation of the parties they represent, both of which have forfeited any claim to the trust and confidence of the people of New Jersey. They share responsibility for the state’s current plight. Only by breaking the hold of the Democratic and Republican mandarins on the governor’s office and putting a rein on their power will the state have any hope for the kind of...
