Beyoncé and Jay-Z have taught their daughter, Blue Ivy, the importance of investing in art. On Saturday night, the 6-year-old made several bids on art while sitting between her mega-star parents at the Wearable Art Gala in Los Angeles. The second annual event, put on by Tina Knowles and husband Richard Lawson, benefits the WACO Theater Center. During the swanky event, little Blue Ivy, who was wearing a matching gold dress like her mother, bid $17,000 on an acyclic painting of Sidney Poitier, reports Vanity Fair. Excited to make another bid, she lifted her paddle again raising the bar to...

The head of the opposition Free Syria Army, General Salim Idriss, told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour on Thursday that he has intelligence that the Assad regime is moving its chemical weapons out of the country. “Today we have information that the regime began to move chemical materials and chemical weapons to Lebanon and to Iraq,” General Idriss told Amanpour from inside Syria. It’s a huge claim that would fundamentally shift everything U.S. intelligence officials have in the past said they believe about the situation in Syria, CNN Pentagon Correspondent Barbara Starr reports.
  • Never-say-die Gamecocks make Rosenblatt's final CWS image a beauty

In a 63-year-old stadium, technology caught up to nostalgia Tuesday night at the College World Series. They were determined -- the CWS fans with their ultra-modern, ultra-thin, ultra-fast shutter-speed pocket cameras -- to the capture the moment. The moment when Rosenblatt Stadium saw its final CWS pitch. So they kept taking pictures, on every pitch late in South Carolina's 2-1, 11-inning victory against UCLA. Every pitch, every swing until Rosenblatt's final cheer had bled out. Coincidence cooperated when Carolina's Whit Merrifield made it a merry field for the Gamecocks. His one-out single over a drawn-in infield broke a 1-1 tie...

This just in: The College World Series is better when LSU wins. No offense to the seven other teams — OK, six as Cal State Fullerton drives to the airport — here in Omaha. We love you all. But there's no sense in denying it: LSU is Omaha's team (with apologies to UNO and Trev Alberts). Nothing against Arkansas, either. The “Omahogs'' were loud and proud and everywhere you looked. If we can't have gumbo for two weeks, pulled pork is a fine caloric substitute. The Omahogs look like they can throw a party, too. But let's not kid ourselves....

The Religious Left has finally spoken out against the “violation of religious freedom” in Cuba. No, these church officials were not condemning Fidel Castro’s 47-year war on religion. Instead, they were condemning U.S. regulations on religious groups traveling between Cuba and the United States. In late May, officials of the National Council of Churches (NCC) and its $60 million relief arm, Church World Service (CWS), convened a press conference in Washington, D.C., to denounce U.S. travel restrictions on Cuba. Every year, thousands of American churchgoers raise several million dollars for CWS through its anti-hunger “CROP Walks” across the nation. In...

OMAHA, Neb. Jun 21, 2006 (AP)— Jay Cox homered twice and made a great catch in the ninth inning to help North Carolina move to the College World Series championship round with a 6-5 victory over Cal State Fullerton on Wednesday night. The Tar Heels (53-13) won Bracket 1 and will play either Rice or Oregon State in the best-of-three final beginning Saturday. Those two teams met later Wednesday, with Rice needing one victory to win Bracket 1. Oregon State would have to beat the Owls twice to reach the final.

I suspect I have some sort of hijack software that has change the way my searches on Google come up. Until very recently google searcehs were quick and I would get responses as normal. Now it seems to freeze for a few seconds and the first page of responses are links to other ad or search services.
